Should I bring my baby to Children's Memorial Hospital?

Hi. I hate that you're having all this trouble. I hope things get better soon. OK. I recently saw a program (medical) about a similar situation and the Dr's were also slow in treatment. Finally, they X-rayed the boy and found that his stomach was very high up in his chest! He did need surgery and was fine after that. The little boy was I think five yrs old by the time he got X-rayed but he was having trouble since birth too. Since your son's situation is so severe, I would get an X-ray to rule anything out. I hope all goes well for your family. Good luck and have a happy holiday! Nikki S.

If your son is losing weight or not gaining weight, this is definitely a more urgent concern. Central Dupage Hospital has an affiliation with Children's Memorial (the doctors from Children's have hours at CDH) and there is no requirement for a referral.

I feel foe you! My baby had severe acid reflux problem, was allergic to protein found in mothers milk, formula and soy formula. Was spitting to the point of loosing her breath, was hospitalized several times. I changer so many doctors....long story short, I took her to a GI Specialist at Children's Memorial Hospital, Doctor Lee Bass who was great. He put her on Prevacid and Neocate. Neocate was the only food she was able to take. She had to be on it until she turned 1. That solved the problem. I never new babies could have such issues with food allergies. I truly hope your baby gets better ASAP, God Bless You both.

I really appreciate everyone’s advice and stories for me. It’s so hard to know when you are being a pushy parent or when you need fight for your child. The advice I have received encouraged me to feel confident enough to be stronger in my fight for my son. Also, the stories I have heard from others don’t scare me, they give me direction to keep searching for more answers. We are now scheduled at Children’s and I just feel right about it.

Thank you everyone!!!
