Looking for families, kids in our area to chat, even get together at beach, park, fishing, etc. Not to form official club, just to share ideas and spend time with other similar kids.
My 10 year old son is an outgoing, smart, atletic and fun kid who has Tourette, main symptoms being repetetive facial and hand tics that increase or decrease depending on stress levels. No meds. Found that preservatives make him bonkers, so we shop mostly at Whole Foods, along with stress management. He usually manages great, with chats at home, understanding from his teachers, and an occasional visit to a counselor when he feels overwhelmed. He deals with it in school and in sports really well, although ofcourse some kids pick on him for being "weird". It would be great to meet other families to share ideas and let the kids play with other kids like them. Also to meet adults who have TS and have a positive outlook.
Cindy - my almost 9 year old has a tic disorder that they believe is tourettes as he gets older. He takes alot of medicine to help control it at this point. I would love to meet other parents who are going through this as many days I want to cry! His biggest thing right now is the verbal abuse to me and my daughter when he gets upset. I am not sure if you would want your children to be around this situation and I totally respect that. His other tics are fairly under control and are more verbal than physical.
