I am looking for a OBGYN in the Plano or Dallas area. I had a horrible experience with my last one. I have read great things about baylor at dallas.. Any thoughts.. My last delivery I had preclampsyia and we almost lost the baby and I was in the woods for awhile. So I need an amazing dr and hospital.
Carrie
I'm a high risk patient for premature labor and my first two babies were both preemies. I switched doctors for my third pregnancy and had a wonderful experience and went full term. Dr. Marci Oliveira is amazing!!! She is perfect for pregnancies that may run into complications. I love her nurse too...which helps when that's who you talk to over the phone when you have questions!!! Dr. Oliveira is located at Medical City in Dallas. She may refer you to see Dr. Weiss for the preclampsyia, he's a perinatologist there at Medical City. He is very smart and a very good doctor as well... They work together very well and you will feel so comfortable during your pregnancy!!!
My daughter was born two months ago and switching to Dr. Oliveira was the smartest and best thing I ever did!!!
Good luck!
Baylor is supposed to be very good, I agree. It's been a few years for me so I don't know if presbyterian of dallas still has a good reputation, but I have used the same OB there for 20 years and have been very happy. Gene Hunt
Hi Carrie,
I've used the same OBGYN since 2001 and still love him! Dr.Clark Griffith at Presby of Dallas. He's a very intelligent friendly doctor. Has a more layed back personality which I like, you don't feel rushed with him and he listens to your needs & concerns.
Good luck to you and your baby!

P.S. He also has very friendly office staff & nurses and I had a wonderful experience with post op care after my C-section so the post op care has improved since my last delivery.
You might want to try a midwife at a birthing center. They gave me so much better care at The Birthing Center at Swiss Avenue than I got at a Dr's office. First off they told me how to prevent preclampsyia. They gave me nutritional support. When my appointment was supposed to be 45 minutes I spent 40 to 45 minutes with the midwife even if it was just to talk about the weather. They were never late to an appointment. When I delivered they always had the baby right beside me. They also are very good at keeping an eye on your blood sugar, protein in urine, and weight and will transfer you to a Dr. if you have any problems. They gave me exercises to expand the birth canal and instructions on how to tell if you need to come into see them if there is lack of movement. When I talk to people about what my midwife did for me they are amazed because their dr's don't spend half as much time nor do they give them anywhere near the education about how to eat, exercise, sleep, rest, and live while pregnant to have a healthy baby.
I have had the same OB/GYN for all 3 of our kids and continue to swear by him. He is Dr. Gary Duncan in Plano. I had 2 of my kids at Plano Presby and 1 at Plano HCA. The experiences I had w/ Presby were awesome and have a quite a few friends who had children there. But Dr. Duncan is a wonderful doctor and recommend him to anyone.
Gave Dr. Autrey's office a call at 972-566-6400. He has a great staff and a great doctor. Dr. Autrey has been in pratice over 24 years at Medical City Dalas Hospital. He will probably send you to Dr. Weiss for the preclampsyia and they will keep in close contact with Dr. Autrey on each and every visit. Dr. Autrey also excepts all insurances except for Medicaid. Good luck to you and your baby.
Dr Courtney Trylovich at Northlake OBgyn (www.northlakeobgyn.com) is absolutely amazing! She is at Presbyterian Plano, now Texas Health Plano. She is incredibly warm, and I cant just even begin to name all the wonderful things about her. She is also very highly recommended by everyone in the hospital that I spoked with, and family friends who were nurses there just had exceptional things to say about her.
Dr. Katrina Walsh at Plano Presby is fantastic! 972-519-1900
I had all three of my kids at Presbyterian Dallas (Texas Health Dallas now) and it is always one of the highest rated hospitals. I love my OBGYN; he delivered all three of my kids and is the OB that all of the nurses in labor and delivery say they use because he is so fantastic. His name is Jonathan Brough at 214-363-4421. I have never felt in better hands with a dr.
There is a wonderful OBGYN In Frisco Texas
Jon Ricks, M. D.
Warren Parkway
Baylor Hospital Frisco.
He also has a office in Plano
Peggy S
Frisco
Without a doubt - Chris Riegel -- Prestonwood OB/GYN -- he is AWESOME 972-608-8979
Dr. Angela Angel at Dallas Presby! The entire group is SO great and came recommended to me by more than 1 person. I moved north to Little Elm and I don't have the # but you can look her up!
Good luck~
Teri
I've been seeing my OB/GYN for 9 years now and I love him! Dr. David Fong. (He's a partner w/ Gary Duncan who someone else mentioned). He has offices in Plano and Frisco and his bedside manner is amazing! He delivered my daughter as well as a few of my friends that now see him too. I highly reccommend him.
972-867-8181.
The BEST OBGYN in Dallas (in my opinion) is Dr. Glen Heckman!!!! I have been with him for 13 years. We have gone through a fallopian tube cyst, miscarriage and natural child-birth. He is wonderful! As is the team at Baylor Dallas. His number is: 2148239630.
Good luck!
Hi Carrie!
Dr. Garrett Garner (Presby Plano) is awesome! I had blood pressure problems with my first pregnancy and then my water broke early with my second and I misscarried our third over the summer. He is very caring and has a sense of humor too. I highly recommend him.
Hi Carrie,
My ob/gyn practices at Baylor Med Center in downtown Dallas. Elizabeth Stevenson, D.O. at Park Lane Ob/Gyn 214-826-2979
http://www.parklaneobgyn.com/
She is the blonde lady on the web homepage. Her partner, Dr Reyes is very nice, also.
I have been seeing DR Stevenson for 8 years, and I am 36, she is a 2-3 years older than me. What I really appreciate about her is that she realizes she is the primary care physician for most of her patients, and she takes many extra continuing ed classes for depression, heart disease, etc in an effort to give "whole body" care.
Plus, she does a great delivery if that is in your future. Funny, focused, not threatened by a doula.
Hi Carrie,
I know you said Plano, however, I can say Dr. Elise Harper at Centennial Medical Center is ONE of the Best OB's I've ever had and I have researched many! She delivered my son when my last OB turned into a real nightmare mid-pregnancy! She was very professional while at the same time maintaining a wonderful connection. Centennial Medical Center is located off of Lebanon Rd in the Frisco area of 121. Here is the office # 972 377 6553. I've recommended many people to her and they've had nothing but great things to say about her!! However, these days her schedule becomes filled up quickly so it may take a while to get an appointment. Good Luck!
I saw Dr. Katrina Walsh for 1st pregnancy. Liked her, but felt staff and she paid lip service to my desire for no drugs and breastfeeding. Also seemed threatened by hiring of labor doula. However, always very professional. I was induced with high BP 1 wk before due date and while baby was born fine, I had a few complications. The LDR nurses at the Plano hospital (can't remember current name, but it's at Coit & 15th) were awesome, tho didn't care for the attitude of the recovery RNs.
Switched to OB-GYN practice that also has 2 RN Midwives on staff, Women's Health Alliance. Saw the midwives for next 2 kids (drove in from Frisco for last one!)....loved them! Never had problems with high BP again, great deliveries.
Best of both worlds, you're in the hospital (Baylor University Medical Center, downtown Dallas) so you don't have to be transported if there's trouble, but you also have low-intervention approach!!!! I've met Dr. Mathews, but not enough to make judgement call. If you can, go for the water delivery...I didn't say yes quickly enough (tub fills slooooooowly), but would if I did it again!
They'll give you lists of doulas, pediatricians, lactation consultants!!
http://www.wha-docs.com/ click on the Midwives link. I go to the Baylor location. Been an official patient since 2000, with 2 births to their practice and still love them!!
I highly recommend Dr. Berry Fleming.

I have had a few gynecologists over the years and he is by far the best! He really takes the time to listen and calm any fears you have. He's also good about not doing unnecessary testing, etc. I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant. I can't say enough about him. He delivers at what is formerly Plano Presby and also at Baylor Frisco.
