we are looking for a medical alert device that does not require a monthly fee and has the option to call us first before calling 911. so far we are leaning towards the telemergency products because the lifelink does not work with voice-over-IP. it seem like the reviews on telemergency products are 50/50. do you have one that worked for you?
this is for my MIL who lives just down the street so we could get to her faster than anyone else (my husband works from home). she had a stroke and her vision is spotty but she still gets around pretty well. she's got stage 4 cancer and is doing chemo. she's very able now but we want to get her one just in case.
Hi Nicole - Is this for an adult or a child? It also depends on what the medical issue with the person is. That would help us with your question. If it is an adult or child you could get the bracelets with the emergency info (including your phone number) like a dog tag. But without knowing the type of issue (life threatening, bee sting, seizures, etc) it will be hard to narrow the advice down. Ask your doctor to see if they feel this medical alert device is needed. Then ask the doctor to help you with your medical insurance coverage to get it covered. The worst thing they can do is say no but the best is for them to cover. Give it a try. God Bless
My husband has lifeline and is paid for by medicare. He has had it for years and it is a great peace of mind. They do call the family first after coming on a speaker to ask him if their is a problem after the button is pushed. He can also anser the phone when it rings and whoever can talk to him on the speaker so he is trying to rush to phone when he is not by it.
I hope this is helpful.
God Bless!
