i am 42 years could you till me what is good for fertility....how can i prepare...?
Do you mean for fertility treatments? Or how to improve your fertility at your age?
Bottom line tho is that there are no sure fire ways of becoming more fertile. The best you can do is to make it easier for your body to be pregnant by being as healthy as possible.
The first thing for anyone planning on trying to get pregnant is to get your body as prepared for pregnancy as possible. If your body isn't functioning it's best when it's just you, growing a whole other person is even harder. Eat a balanced diet high in folic acid and vitamin c. Start a regular excercise program. Raspberry leaf tea is good for uterine health. A prenatal vitamin with Omega 3 fatty acids is very good to start even before you get pregnant. Drink at least 8-8 oz glasses of water daily. The newest recommondation is to drink half your body weight in ozs of water (if you weigh 150 lbs you should drink 75 ozs of water) daily. You could also try a detox diet for a few weeks and even a colon cleasing.
One thing I recommend to women trying to get pregnant is to plan something for a year from now that will be best enjoyed if you are NOT prgnant. It never seems to fail that when you decide to wait to get pregnant (or that getting pregnant is not a good idea right now) is when you get pregnant.
I do wish you all the best of luck.
it's so nice to see someone who is older trying to have kids. i am 41 and just had my first child (baby girl) 4 months ago. have you tried the ovulation kit? it worked for me and my sister (who is also older). also, accupuncture seems to help women as well. i know of an accupuncturist if you need one. you should also cut back on caffeine and alcohol and make sure you're taking pre-natal vitamins. i hope this helps - let me know if you want the # for the accunpuncturist - she is wonderful!
I really recommend you getting a physical and talking to your doctor about your health. In fact, you might want to think about going directly to a doctor who specializes in fertility. I have had both my children through Fertility Physicians of Northern CA. They have an office near Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose. They do complete physical exams and plan your best course of action to conceive.
I have heard good things about acupuncture and fertility.
Hello Rosekevin,
Acunpuncture and lots of massage can help. Go to a good acupuncturist who know what they are doing in this field.
Here's a link to a CBS article/program regarding chiropractic helping with infertility. In my office we have had women who couldn't conceive or maintain pregnancies successfully deliver healthy babies after chiropractic.

In a November 2007 Harvard research study diet was also addressed.
The women with the highest fertility diet scores ate less trans fat and sugar from carbohydrates, consumed more protein from vegetables than from animals, ate more fiber and iron, took more multivitamins, had a lower BMI, exercised for longer periods of time each day, and, surprisingly, consumed more high-fat dairy products and less low-fat dairy products. The relationship between a higher ‘fertility diet' score and lesser risk for infertility was similar for different subgroups of women regardless of age and whether or not they had been pregnant in the past.
Good Luck.
I'm 40, and the second child didn't happen for two years of trying. I got accupuncture from a fertility specialist. I was pregnant within a week. I continued going for the forst few months to get my body into great shape for the duration of the pregnancy and the birth. Where are you? My guy is in San Francisco and Hercules.
Hi there - I just got pregnant (I'm almost 41), and had been through several fertility treatments (all at FPNC), accupuncture, herbs, vitamins, exercise, etc. None of it worked. So I stopped all of it and took a break. We had intended to start IVF protocol, when I miraculously conceived naturally. The only thing that we did differently is that both my husband and I quit drinking alcohol, and stopped using any products with parabens in them. I also started eating smaller, more frequent meals, and a bit more protein (since I wasn't eating enough). Other than that, you should go in for cycle day 3 bloodwork and have your husband do a sperm analysis to check that you're both in good health, and that hormone levels are normal. After age 40, it's very uncommon to conceive naturally, but it's not impossible. Relax, be healthy, and good luck to you!
In addition to accupuncture and healthy exercise such as walking and yoga, natural nutritional supplements can be a great help. I am a nutritional specialist and would be happy to help you on the nutritional program that can benefit you the most. Sending you fertile thoughts,

Put your hubby in boxers..... decrease frequency of lovemaking to once a week (make it a really special night)... and not "try"... just enjoy the process. Worked for us!
I'm a Five Element Acupuncturist and had my first and only child at 40. I easily got pregnant and I know it was due to the acupuncture I've received on a regular basis.
Check out my website at www.donnaAcupuncture.com
The way Five Element Acupuncture helps you get pregnant is by balancing the body. When the body is healthy, pregnancy will naturally happen.
Another good resource is "Taking control of your fertility." It's a great book that will show you how to track your cycle and let you know the best time to attempt conception. I used it and we got pregnant on the first try. We also weren't attached to the getting pregnant process and were open to whatever happens. I think that really helped as I was very surprised to be pregnant that quickly.
Please feel free to look at my website and contact me directly if you have any other questions. Donna
Hi Run don't walk to the bookstore and buy "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Wechsler and learn about when you are most fertile- I do some health and fertility awareness coaching but it can be tricky to concieve if you don't know when you are most fertile-women are fertile for about one week a month and you need to know when that is, There are also Herbs and suppliments to further strengthing your cycle an making sure you are ovulating-Feel free to get in touch- [email protected] for a check in if you like-Good Blessings to you --Liza
Hi Rosekevin,
I did not have my first child until I was 36 due to fertility issues. It was not until I started the whole food product Body Balance that I was able to conceive chidren. I learned later it was due to the high quality nutrients and 8 glyoconutrients that made all this difference. You can get your first bottle of Body Balance for just $7.95 for the shipping at this website www.LifeForcefamily.com and put in ID# 20367522
Blessing for you and your new family, Linda H
In addition to all the good advice, please also research natural contraceptives... like Soy and Green Peas, you'll want to avoid those.
There are great herbal products for the reproductive health of men and women.
I also recommend "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" (www.tcoyf.com). It will not only help you to figure out timing for your conception, but it will help you figure out if certain problems will hinder conceiving. This book can cut out the need for ovulation predictor kits, as well as pregnancy tests (except for confirmation when your temperature chart goes up). And another nutritional supplement recommendation: Evening Primrose Oil - it helps increase the quality and quanity of your cervical fluid though it may take 2-3 months before you notice a difference. One other thing I suspected was a hinderance when I tried conceiving #1 was the hormones in milk so I switched to organic. I also highly recommend having fun while you're trying to get pregnant and do all the things that you won't be able to do (easily) after you have kids: going to the theater, eating at nice restaurants, going on trips. This not only helps you to enjoy your non kid time, but also helps you to relax, which is good for conception. Good luck!
Hi Rosekevin -
I'm 41 and 14 weeks pregnant, after 6 years of trying. Like others have said, acupuncture was a big part of boosting my fertility, and was aided by taking targeted supplements after getting lab tests (thru the acupuncturist). An acupuncturist who can give you access to these tests can help you to get supplements that work for you (I'm not talking about vitamins). I also recommend a cleanse - I had yeast in my body and didn't know, had food allergies & didn't know, etc. My Kaiser doctors are still surprised, and say that none of this had anything to do with my getting pregnant. I know better. Your partner also should avoid caffeine, hot baths, cut down on sugar too.
I conceived first at the age of 41, after 20 years of trying to get pregnant. I went through 2 fertility studies, including my husband in them. I spent years taking my temp every morning. The Drs. suspected I had a "hostile environment" to my husband's sperm, but had no remedy for it. After 12 years, we gave up and adopted a darling little girl (who is now an attorney). We stopped trying to get pregnant completely. I know what your are thinking: "She got pregnant because she adopted a baby and relaxed." Right? Well, no.
We moved to Mexico and got down to the wonderful social life of living there. When my adopted daughter was 6 I took her to a homeopath to see if HE could cure her night cough, which no pediatrician nor throat specialist had been able to cure for 3 YEARS! He gave her Ipecac and the cough was gone in 3 days! Never came back.
We were impressed, so we took my husband's Mom to him for Parkinson's. Within a month she was taking 2 yoga classes per week and hiking in our hilly neighborhood every day. She improved in every way.
So I went to him for sciatica during my periods. He gave me
SEPIA, and within 2 months I was pregnant! I also took daily Pulsatilla 30. Now, mind you I was a yoga teacher and eating very healthy and drinking liquor verrry infrequently.
After all I had spent on fertility treatments, a $15 homeopathic remedy, administered ONLY ONCE is what did the lovely trick. (My daughter is now a world-class competing athlete!) Homeopathy is more expensive in this country than in Mexico, but
more inocuous than those expensive, uncomfortable, and in my case dangerous fertility tests. Everyone has different body chemistry, so find a good homeopath and tell him/her about my success and see what they say. They will prescribe according to your specific body type and history. If you can't afford even that go on the www to www.abchomeopathy.com. The remedies are not expensive. Or you can get them at Whole Foods or Elephant Pharmacy (in the Bay Area).
God bless you on this very important Life's Work!
I've noticed that women who have very little body fat and took alot of hot saunas have trouble concieving, also tight underwear on men can be problematic. Good Luck!
