morning sickness :(

so im 11 wks now and i throw up constantly!!! its horrible! ive tried crackers an medications from my doctor but nothing helps! any tips???

Poor thing! Try preggie pops, or ginger tea. Ginger helps sooth the stomach. If you like ginger, I would just suck on a fresh slice of it. Some times, nothing but time helps. Sorry. Make sure to stay hydrated and stay in contact with you doctor! Good luck!

Sorry :(. I hope you suddenly feel well at 12 weeks!
Try the sea-sickness bracelets that press on your wrists. Try lemon, ginger, papaya (a sailor trick), sweet or sour, mint tea, ... Maybe start taking your vitamin at night? Maybe just start taking a flintstone vitamin (suggested by my OBGYN). Eat little meals, drink tiny sips (water made me gag - maybe ice might be good?), and don't eat things you intend to like after the pregnancy :) Morning sickness experiences are bad enough to haunt you for years later! Basically eat what your body allows. I lived on a sunny-side up egg and dry toast or burritos for the entire pregnancy of my son. Not gaining enough at the end due to extreme nausea, I started adding jamba juice smoothies.

Best of luck.

The good news is you are probably almost through with it. I had to by the motion sickness watch that Bass Pro Shop. It works like a charm. You have to get the one that has a battery. It emits a low electrical impulse at your inner wrist that stops nausea. It is used for Chemo patients. Contact me if you have any questions:) Deb

I am so sorry for you! with my third child I had the worst morning sickness for a long time. I hope yours goes away soon :0) I did try Zofran which helped a little but not a ton. I finally started drinking Ensure in the morning before I moved around and that helped a lot. Having an empty stomach made me feel worse. I think the added vitamins helped too. So try to find the one thing you can eat or drink and make sure you eat or drink it. Make sure you stay hydrated because that will make you feel sick too. Good luck and I hope the rest of your pregnancy is easier :)

Hi Rebecca. I feel for you.. I experienced "morning sickness"(which is really round the clock) for the entire 10 months of both of my pregnancies... maybe yours will go away soon. If your doctor has not offered you Zofran yet, ask him about it. It was a Godsend for me.

Also, I do not recall anyone mentioning it when I was pregnant (several years ago) but B Vitamins can help. I recently discovered that when I feel queasy from not eating, that drinking a Vitamin Water helps. (They have several of the B vitamins in them and electrolytes, too, and come in a variety of flavors (not too strong or sweet), so they taste better than "plain" water when you are nauseous.) I'd recommend giving them a try. I mentioned it to a friend (also in the first trimester of pregnancy) and she said they helped her.

Good luck to you with the nausea. Even if it doesn't go away.. it is all worth it in the end.
Blessings, and congratulations on your pregnancy!

Have you tried Zofran? It was the only thing that worked for me. It is the same anti-nausea med that they give chemo patients to keep them from vomiting. It worked awesome with my 1st pregnancy but didn't help at all my 2nd time.

I feel for you. Hang in there. It usually gets better by 12-13 weeks. Remember to eat well....LOTS of protein, LOTS of water and take a quality prenatal vitamin daily.

Congrats and best wishes!

Homeopathic remedies- they are the best try nux vomica , and there are a couple others- check the web- these have no side effects, and once you find the correct one for you- you are set
check w/ your local health food store,
best of luck-k

I know how that feels. I felt "green" the first 4.5 months when prego with the twins. Things that helped me were...
ginger snap cookies, peppermint candies, healthy snacking throughout the day so I didn't get too hungry, lots of water with a little lemon mixed in, and staying away from cooking smells especially meat and fish. Also my friend loaned me a seasickness relief band and I swear it helped a lot. I'd take it off at night and if I forgot to put it on in the am, I'd start to feel really sick until I put it back on again. I hope I helped a little bit.

Zofran did not work for me and I lost 16 pounds in the first trimester of both of my pregnancies. Make sure you are watching your fluid intake and make sure not to get dehydrated. Once I started throwing up sips of water, I had to be hospitalized for hypernemisis (severe morning sickness) and get rehydrated from IVs.

Don't be afraid to go to your doctor or call your doctor for help.

Rebecca, the only thing that helped me were seasickness bands with my first pregnancy I was really sick and thought I was going to die for the first 5 months! Then in my second pregnancy someone told me about the wrist bands they work! It is a little uncomfortable to start as they are pressing on a pressure point but after a while and with no sickness it was no big deal the only downside the bands are ugly grey but thats a small price to pay! Good luck and I hope you get to feeling better soon.

You have my sympathy. I was the same way from the time I conceived until a week before I gave birth. Believe it or not the only thing that helped was...Yoohoo!! Really, I mean it! It had to be the one in a carton for some reason. I would keep it near me at all times and if I could catch it early it would go away. Hope this helps.

It sounds like you might have Hyperemisis. My daughter had that with two pregnancies. She would throw up about every 10 minutes - any sound, or light, or movement would cause vomiting. Granted, she had an extreme case, but if you are throwing up constantly, you need to talk to your doctor. There are safe medications that you can take to stop vomiting. Let your Doctor guide you and be sure you track how much you are vomiting. If you have Hyperemisis you need a doctors care to ensure your health and the health of your baby.
Good luck!! God bless!

I had to travel cross country in the early months of my last pregancy and could only keep down McDonald's ice cream and chocolate chip muffins. I tried the anti-nauea stuff from previous pregancy with no avail. Zofran saved my santi! After 2 days of taking the stuff i actually ate meals. Most of it was mac and cheese, salty potatoes, fruit, simple carbs at first and then I was able to eat meat. Also, I never left the house without my crystal light ( I hate plain water). It help me stay hydrated in the awful heat or i would throw up and want to pass out.

Don't forget to nap too.

Vernors is a strong ginerale that really helps settle the stomach. You can usually find it at Publix or win dixie.

The morning sickness did fade around 20 wks but i stayed on Zofran for the entire pregancy due to allergies draining down my thorat forcing me to puke up snot everyday for almost the entire time. After morning puke i was usually good with a Zofran and Vernors as long as i didn't get too hot.
Good Luck!

My daughter went through the same thing. Her doctor reccemonded raspberry leaf tea. I don't remember the brand name but we brought it at our local grocery store. It made a MAJOR difference for my daughter! She would drink a cup (hot) in the morning when she got up & would be fine for the morning!
When I went throught it I found that eating small, frequent meals was the ONLY thing that eased it! I'd only have to eat a few ites every hour or so, then the urge to get sick wasn't nearly as bad! Hope this helps!

Avoid dairy products in the morning. I never had the morning sickness but my sister in law had it bad. Crackers, she said only saltines, no other kind. Also she said to tell you to keep the crackers and some water or sprite by your bed. Before you get up for the day eat a few crackers and drink something. Not a lot of sprite as it's bad for the baby. She also said to tell you to avoid anything with acid, coke, pepsi, smoking or being around smokers. She said to tell you to eat small meals several times a day instead of big meals and not to eat anything after nine at night. This should help. Good Luck!

I had morning sickness for 20 weeks of my 1st pregnancy and a little less with my now second pregnancy. What I find is I will eat something that works and then I get sick of it and can't touch it again. The Stauffers animal crackers saved me this time (generic kind in the big bag or jar, available at Wal-mart). They are very bland and not too sweet. I also ate the oysterette crackers which are the small saltine crackers you put in soup. My pregnant girlfriend told me her ob recommended coke slurpees. I never drank caffeine with my first but I was desperate and willing to try it and most days it really helped. It has to be frozen. Once it melted, it was too acidic. Hang in there because it will get better. I'm 19 weeks today (2nd baby) and it's still tough but so worth it. The best thing I did was get a Netflix subscription to distract myself because that's the only thing that brought me comfort and would take my mind off how sick I felt. Congratulations!

My doctor told me, with my 4th pregnancy, to take vitamin B6 daily. Seperate from the pre-natal vitamin. I took the B6 early in the day and the pre-natals at night. It is easier on your stomach to take heavier pills at night.
Everyone is different, so just try different things until you find something that makes you feel better.
You can also take unisom at night before you go to bed and you will wake up less nauseas in the morning.
Peppermint helps some people. Ginger ale, but it has to be made with real ginger.. a lot is not. Babies R Us and other places sell preggie pops lollipops that are supposed to help. Don't know if they worked or not because the B6 worked so well for me.
I hope you're able to find some relief! Good luck!

Stop the "scared to death"...words must be chosen carefully. Please be joyful and so happy that you are creating a new life...OK?
Next, a little ginger ale, crackers (I know you said they don't help) but a solid food like potato may help as well. Whatever meds you are taking please consult with your doctor as you want to know the side effects.
Blessings and best wishes on your firstborn!

Rebecca,
I can so relate to what you are going through. I went through the same thing with both my son and daughter. I thought it should be renamed "24 hours of sickness", forget morning sickness. I was fortunate to have a husband that is a chiropractor, acupuncturist and homeopath. Here is what worked for me. For my son it was easier than my daughter to get rid of. I used ginger herbal capsules and peppermint tea for my son. Make sure both are organic. I also used homeopathy for nausea. I used acupuncture for my daughter. I had a harder time getting rid of the nausea with her. Acupuncture did the trick. I also found chiropractic adjustments helped as well. They also help with back pain that a lot of women get. I hope this helps. It is truly a miserable time when you are always sick. I think it is natural to be afraid it's a big responsibilty and a lot of new experiences. I found the best way to deal with the fear is education. I read a lot and came to decisions based on what would work for me and was the safest for my baby and myself. The biggest thing I reminded myself is our body's are designed for pregnancy and childbirth. We can support, understand and nuture the process. In the end the reward is so worth everything you go through! Mothering Magazine at the health food store is a good souce of information.

All the best,
