My mother in-law is hoping to move to Texas within the next few years. I live in Allen and would like for her to be able to drive to our home by driving on roads with speeds of 45 mph or less. She will have a modest income. I am hoping to find some condos in a senior independent living type area so she can meet friends her own age and establish relationships. I have seen (from driving past) some beautiful places in Frisco & Plano, but I am afraid they will be out of her price range. Does anyone have friends or relatives living in this sort of situation that can recommend (or discourage!) any particular place?

I don't personally know any seniors. I've noticed a lot of places going up for seniors though.
I don't know what area of Allen you are located. We are in the West Allen/North Plano area.
Just last week I heard that Twin Creeks is building some type of Senior center. There is one on Chase Oaks Blvd in Plano (behind Cinemark) that looks nice. I've seen a one on Spring Creek Parkway/Custer area and then West Plano has a large one on Parker/Ohio area.
