We are expecting our 2nd child in December and live in the Middle O' Nowhere. We are worried about not being able to get a friend to stay with our 5 year old son. I do not want to labor alone if hubby has to go home to take care of our son - so I'm thinking a Doula?? Any referrals? Price? Good idea or bad? Glad you did it? Wish you hadn't?
I am concerned that I will not be able to speak up for myself once I get into active labor - I couldn't last time and don't want Pitocin or an epsiotomy again. Terrible! So I need a loud-mouthed pushy pit bull to keep the Kaiser OBGYN dept. from shoving me headfirst into their standard baby factory proceedures.
I found the DONA website so I know there are a few Doulas in the area but would like to hear from some moms first.
