looking for a cruise for the first time

hey all,

am looking for help researching a family-friendly cruise -- we have NEVER gone on a cruise! we've traditioally been paranoid about being stuck on a ship for a week with bad food, loud fellow guests, and nothing fun to do. this is a phobia we have had for a long time, and any recommendations / great cruise experiences you could share would be really helpful!

especially for cruises for mexico or alaska...

I'm in same "boat". We are going to try the Disney Cruise this summer, but starting slow with 4-day cruise. It is quite costly ($4k for 4 not including airfare or grand transportation). i believe the have more exotic destinations.
