Hi - Building a small extension - how long are Chicago permits valid for ? I heard 6 months is it correct? I'm just thinking our builder can't start right now (he had a bad accident) also can we get an extended time period if we cannot start for a while?

Permits are generally for about 6 months but I think it depends on what is being done. A neighbor had one for 6 months and paid for an extension to 1 yr. She was having the upstairs totally redone and extended.
