having a hard time finding a job

I've been under-employed for about a year and am now unemployed. I'm a social worker and have some retail experience. I can't seem to find anything that doesn't require late nights and weekends, and most don't pay enough for me to hire a nanny.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

You can make some good money in direct sales, Avon,lia/sophia,pampered chef, tastefully simple.....things like that. Avon is great because there are no "shows" and your daughter can ride around with you. I recommend choosing one that has a "consumable product", that way once you get some customers they will have repeat orders.
There are a ton of these out there, find a reputable one you like and go have fun with it .

Hey Jennifer,
I knew I read the paper for a reason this morning. In the Help Wanted section of the Recorder they have the following ad. Might be a good lead for you doing Social Work. Also, You should look into BTS Staffing. I have gone through them twice and they were excellent in finding me the perfect job. I've been with this one now for over 2 years. Give them a Call
BTS Staffing; 518-725-7884, their in Johnstown.

Here's the Ad:

Have you ever considered doing family childcare out of your home, I do it and I love it. I am my own boss, pick my hours and have fun being with my own children. ALso, my kids have made many friends with me doing this. Just a suggestion!!

Like Lisa G. recommended, being a consultant for companies like Lia Sophia/Pampered Chef/Mary Kay/Avon/Partylite/Body Shop/etc, you can choose your own hours and spend lots of time with your family. I'm going to start selling Lia Sophia jewelry in August and I'm looking forward to making my own hours, doing a few jewelry shows a month and making 30-40% of my sales. If you're interested in being an advisor for Lia Sophia, let me know and I'd be happy to give you more information! Here's my email: [email protected] (if you're interested in Pampered Chef,Mary Kay or The Body Shop, let me know, I have some friends that are consultants)

where do you live. If you are a social worker living near the Albany area i know of an agency that will be looking for people soon. They might be willing to hire you part time and they are willing to work around people's scheudles. Let me know.

Jennifer, i work from home and have 2 small boys I have helped several moms in the area join our group and replace their income stream. Feel free to send me an email and we can exchange information, i am actually having a business meeting tommorow at my house on how to get started (kid friendly) :)

check this out I do this at night but make great money. Have a great back up team to help me and the best part is there is no start up cost just a party and your family and friends to help you get off your feet in getting your shows. Hope to hear from you
Danielle

Hi Jennifer, have you considered network marketing? I know it may not be something you ever thought about doing but it could help you bring in some money until you find a job and then it becomes residual income. If you are computer savvy, I know of a system that is still in the beta stage that utilizes an interactive video to do the presentation of the product. The cool part is that system only requires the user to enter a name and email address and the system does the rest of the selling and business building. It even manages the follow-up and provides the training if needed. If you want more info I can send you a link.
