Ainsley too weird???

Hi fellow moms! I am pregnant with #3 and having a huge problem coming up with names for this surprise!! We love names that are kind of unique, and not too popular. We have an Emerald (almost 4) and Calvin (almost 2) so can't do anything too close to those names. In our discussions, we keep coming back to the name Ainsley (for a girl) and seem to like it a lot. I just want to know if you think it's too weird. However, boy names are super hard!! We can't pick a boy name that's too close to my son's name, don't want the top 10 names (love Luke, Jacob, and Ethan but have many friends who've used those names), don't want a boy name that could be a girl's name, and can't do a P name, due to initials. Any help or suggestions?? Thanks!

Love, love, the name Ainsley. It's not weird, but not common. It's one of those names that sounds cool and different and people won't say "Huh?!".

Ha ha you definately cant have a little pp! If you like it, who cares. Boys are hard!! My husband and I didnt have a name for our son until after he was born. We couldnt agree on anything. I think its great that you both like it! Its your baby if you like it go for it. The boy names I wanted but didnt fly were Tyler (Ty) or Ryan. IF we ever have another baby and its a girl I love Kate (Katie). Also look up the name and find the meaning. Suppossibly your baby's name is already chosen for him/her. We ended up naming our baby Matthew without checking the meaning and it means Gift of God. =) Considence, I dont think so!! Good Luck and Congrats!!

We have a family friend who's daughter's name is Ainsley and both she and her name are beautiful...I'm guessing you're thinking of this name if you have a girl, right?

I love the name!

I think Ainsley is fine for a girl (I know one) but it's kind of effeminate for a boy...Just my opinion though.

I actually love Ainsley. It was in the running when we were pregnant with our daughter, and it's in the running again this time if we have another girl. It is gaining in popularity though, which is why we didn't choose it last time. I also like Aislyn, which is a little similar, but also gaining popularity.

Sorry I don't really have any suggestions for a boy's name. DH and I have a few that we like: Benjamin, Jacob, Zachary, Oliver, are a few.

Ainsley is cute for a girl. I heard the name Ronan (ROW-NAN) but not sure how it was spelled...I liked that. You should look up meanings of names, possibly from other countries/languages to have a new found appreciation of a name and then you mind find one that you like.

I would say if you love it who cares what anyone else says? I think it is beautiful! My husband and I explored Scotland and Ireland for our honeymoon and while there we chose a girl's name in Ireland and a boy's name in Scotland. We ended up with a honeymoon boy baby. I don't care that my son't name isn't status quo here. I love it anyway. We also were tired of all the usual names. His name is Ronin and I wouldn't change it for anything. Congratulations!!

I love that name! Boys names are incredibly hard, but you'll figure it out. Don't worry about what others think....the baby will be too cute for people to comment over the name! Congratulations!!

Ainsley is very cute! Not too weird at all!

For boy names, we always liked: Avery, Landon (but that's close to Calvin), and our son's name is Gabriel...sorry I couldn't be of more help!

I like Ainsley. Boy names--Chase, Chandler, Liam, Nelson

Congrats on your 3rd miracle!!! I know a lot of people who have been blessed with a baby finding them, (adoption) then poof here comes another!!
I like Ainsley, and it really doesn't matter what I say, it's your baby, you can name her or him anything you want.
My advice, don't tell anyone!!!!
By the time the baby comes and you name him or her, no one will say anything. They'll be too busy loving a new baby.
I know you said you don't want a boy name that couls be a girl name, but I gotta say I like Ainsley, for either one
;-)

I have a friend who's daughter's name is Emerald :)

Stephanie,
Do what you want to do .... it is all up to you and daddy :) Dont worry what other people will think they will get use to the name ... I promise :) I like unique names also, probably because my mom named me Sommer Dawn !!! I named my Daughters Charity and Faith ! I have never met anyone with the name Charity before, but I know Faith is a bit more common. They go together and I like it. Now I was afraid that my girls wouldnt like their names as they got older so I gave them normal middle names, so they could go by them if they wished :)

As for a boy, I REALLY like the name Parker ! I know it starts with a P, but I thought I would throw it out there.
Other names are Seth, Landon, and Quintin !

Good Luck !

I wanted to throw my 2 cents in for a boy name, I wanted my son to be named Ashton Nathaniel, but my husband has a family history where our son's name had to start with a "J". And, it is not after Ashton Kutcher, I don't care much for him, and I heard that's not even his real name, I heard it was Jason. Anyway, the only 2 Ashton's that I know are him and Ashton Drake, which is where I first saw the name and fell in love with it. I did want to let you know something else, my daughter's name, Alexis, is on the top 10 names for a girl but she has never met another Alexis yet, as far as I know. She goes to daycare and there are no other kids there named Alexis which I find really odd. I have a very unusual name, Rae, but it took me until I was a teenager to really like my name and the uniqueness of it. I wish you the best of luck!

Stephanie

CONGRADULATIONS!

You are going to get SO MANY responses for this!

I have children having children so I have to tell you what I tell them - it does not matter what anyone else thinks!

My girls have quite a few what other people would consider "weird" names all lined up - now we just need the babies to go with them: such as Heaven and Nevaeh (have one that wants twin girls!)

For a boy Wyatt and Xander (pronounce Zander).

I have a new nephew named Aidan.

Good luck on having a healthy baby!

Nancy

Sorry but since you asked for our opinion..I personally do not like the name Ainsley. It is your child and your decision. If you like the name then go ahead and use it..

It seems like the kind of name you will need to spell for people for quite awhile. Also I can see people constantly asking where the name came from and why did you choose the name. Just giving you my honest opinion.

People spell my daughters name incorrectly and even 10 1/2 years later people mispronounce her name so just speaking from our experience. I love her name but to do it all over again I would choose a different name...

Ainsley is not wierd. I have one in one of my dance classes. It is a pretty name. Ensley is also nice. I know one of those also.

What my husband and I did with our second was take a baby name book and pick out our fave 20 names. We each did this seperately so not to see what we chose. Then compared the names and we had three that were the same. We played with those names and came up with our second's name. You may or may not have any matches, but you can see what you each like. Have fun with and don't fret. Good luck and God Bless.

My 2nd daughter's name is Ainsley. We obviously adore it. It took some of our family & friends a little to get used to, especially since we didn't share the name until right before she was born (we didn't know what we were having). I think it will go well in your family! Good Luck!
