Has anyone had their child get their 6yo molars early, w/o him/her losing teeth?

My 4yo had 20 teeth by the 3.5y checkup. Baby is almost 4.5, hasn’t lost any bby teeth, no teeth are loose & is already getting, what us known as 6 year old molars. Bby has an apt next week. Bby only complained once a week ago & said it bothersome to eat goldfish. No fever, no complaints of pain & both bottom molars are clearly there. you can see 90% of each molar protruding out of the gums. Has anyone else had this happen with their child, or know someone who has gone through this with their child? My bby also teethed early, starting at 2.5mos & by 3mos had 1 tooth. At 4 mos, 2 bottom front teeth & then the top K9’s came in next. Early teething & the order was definitely awkward. Currently no signs of loose/wiggly teeth, just new molars.

When my youngest was 9, the orthodontist said she had the mouth of a mature 11 yo.

The great thing was she was out of braces (Invisalign) by middle school.

My daughter got her 6 year molars soon after she turned 5. She’s almost 6 and just got her first wiggly tooth.

Kids lose teeth at different rates. Do you take your kids to a pediatric dentist for regular check ups? Why don’t you ask him/her then if you’re so concerned?

my nearly 8 year old has only lost 3 teeth. and he has his molars too. my 6 year old is getting molars but does not have any loose teeth and has not lost any.
i work with my children's dentist and ask them questions about my kids specific needs.
what does your child's dentist say about their teeth?

Mine got all their teeth late and lost them late. Our dentist said there is a big variation on the spectrum - like everything. There's not set age - it's like milestones - think height, weight, when kids develop. I would just get your dentist to show you the chart.

The order for us was a little off too. I never gave it any thought. I only mentioned it when our kids were over a year different in losing their teeth. However, even then I wasn't too concerned, because it was the same for me.

I'm willing to bet one of you (you or your partner) had the same pattern. It's typically genetic.

My kids lost their first baby teeth in 1st grade - so 5-6 years old. However, since your baby has teeth, he should be seeing a dentist on a regular basis, so that is the best place to ask.

if anyone else HAS had this happen, does it help you? it won't mean that your child's mouth and growth pattern will be the same.

you need to speak to a pediatric dentist.

There's a lot of variation for what passes for normal - they generally don't start losing their baby teeth till 5 or 6 years old.
If your dentist isn't worried - then you shouldn't be either.
