Dealing with Peanut and Dust Mite Allergies with Young Son

Hi - I found this site as I was looking for help online about peanut allergies. We just found out my son (16 months) has a peanut allergy and also dust mite allergy. I never thought he would have a problem - no family history and his older sister has no food allergies. But I guess you never know. It's just a little hard for me to accept because I never had any allergies at all and the peanut allergy is so scary. Epi-pen Jr. in an Airport (And Some Liquid Questions)

My 19 month old son has a food allergy and we must carry an epi-pen jr. around with us at all times. Is there any special consideration we have to take when traveling by plane? I can see security claiming that it is a weapon or something like that since there is a needle, but at the same time, it is a rescue medication that is required to be with my son at all times.
