I Have a 3 Year old...enough Said :)

OK, mainly I'm just venting, but of course would love any ideas, input, etc. from those who have or have had 3 year old boys. My biggest frustration is...why in the world does he have to be so difficult with me? The simplest of instruction from me becomes a big issue. "Honey, please come here so I can change your diaper"...."no" (and runs away). I am firm with him, I use positive discipline, rewards, consequences, time outs and anything else I have learned, but it just seems like EVERYTHING little thing is a battle. By noon I've had it. I...

My 4-Year-old Constantly Wants Me to Play with Her: Advice?

Hi, Just wondering how other moms have responded to their young kids when they want you to play with them. Lately my 4-year-old daughter is constantly asking me to play with her (usually pretend-play), and gets upset when I have to do other things like housework. She seems to have lost the ability to entertain herself, and it's driving me a bit crazy. She has a younger brother (19 months), but he's too young to really play with her the way that she wants to. Any ideas on what to do?

Preschool Good for Our 3 Year-old?

Our daughter just turned 3 years of age. She's been in a part-time preschool (~2.5 hours three times a week), since last November. Of all the preschools we looked at, we thought the one she's in was the best one. She's in a 2's class with 9 other kids and two teachers. The school is very organized and they always stay on a consistent schedule. The school has a new theme and change their activity table toys/projects every week. It's a play-based school (not Montessori). Our daughter loves to do imaginative and creative play, to sing and to...

3 Year Old Behavior...

Hello there...I am looking for new tricks to have up my sleeve when dealing with my 3 year old daughter. As of late she has taken to shrieeking when put on a time out. I also have not been able to get her to say "I'm sorry for _____" once she's out of her time out. She flat out refuses and walks away or says she "can't". She also has taken to talking or raising her voice over mine to repeat herself when told "no" in getting something. This she picked up from me due to my using it when she started repeating herself so say "noooooo" over her....

3 Year Old Girl Birthday Party

Hi there. We are having a "Glamour" Birthday party for my little 3 year old Glamour Girl. She LOVES nail polish and lipstick and dressing up. Anyways, I have already purchased star studded sunglasses and boas (the feather kneck things) for the girls to dress up in while at the party, but what can I do "glamouris" for boys? The party is in two weekends so I have some time to think, but I just don't know what to get for the boys to dress up in or play with for the party. Thanks!

3 Year Old Girl Birthday Party

Hey Mamas! I need some advice on throwing a birthday party for my active 3 year old niece. I have 2 boys, so I am a bit clueless when it comes to little girls. I am helping her dad do the planning. (He has her that week) She is living between Vegas 1 week with her mom and Huntington Beach 1 week with her dad. We want it to be fun for her & still on a low cost budget. We will be inviting mostly family, not too many kids her age & our family is predominately BOYS!!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

How to Throw a 3 Year Old a Birthday Party?

I don't know how to throw my daughter her 3 year party (October 25th). The last two years have been close family only, and I was fine with that. But since my B-day in mid-August, Arden is running around singing happy birthday to herself almost every day...the time has come. Thing is, all of the 1,2,and 3 year old parties I've attended have been for both parents and kids (and I mean BOTH parents). These are typically held in the late afternoon/eve, and invlove lots of alcohol, the guys gathering to themselves, and the moms taking care of...

My 3 Year Old Son Loves to Dress like a princess.......what Should I Do?

For about 4 months my 3 year old son has been very attracted to the Disney princessess and any other princess-like characters. When he has the opportunity he likes to put on his little girlfriend's princess costumes and dance around the house. We do not have princess costumes at home so he will make due by getting scarfs and asking us to tie them around his body as the dress and then put one on his head as the hair. At first, I had no problem with this; I thought it was cute. Now I've begun to worry and have had conversations with...

4 Year Old Behavior

I am wondering if any of you have experienced some of these characteristics with your 4 year old (I have a boy). He can't stand tags in his clothing, socks are too tight, pants are too tight (even though they are not.....), no long sleeve shirts (can't stand them!). Behaviors he has are: tantrums....screaming, yelling, and hitting the bedroom door...etc... when we are transitioning him from one thing to the next...and he is not happy about the next event. We also are hearing from others that he is bugging other kids who are next to him...

Star Wars Birthday Ideas?

Yes, I am a total Star Wars nerd, and my son has become one too! He was given a yoda t-shirt and was scared of it (yoda looks strange) until my husband said "Yoda is not scary----he's like, a sifu" (Kung Fu teacher). That did the trick, and he suddenly loved Yoda. So we started showing him the movies, and sitting there to explain things to him. He's a huge Star Wars fan now, and requested that his next birthday party be a Star Wars party. He will turn 5 at the end of October. Can you creative mamas help me out with some ideas to make this...
