Will She Ever Slow down Her Growth?

I have a 5 1/2month old that has always been at the top of the charts for weight and high for head and height. She is 23 1/2 pounds at 5 1/2 months, 27 inches. She has grown from 19 pounds, 25 inches at her 4 month checkup! The doctor said she would likely taper off soon, but he has said that each visit and that she would probaby only gain 1-2 pounds in a month if even that much. She is gaining 3-4 each month. She doubled her birth weight by 2 1/2 months. She seems happy and is hitting her milestones early or on time. Both of her...

Anyone Had Experience with LAPBAND Surgery?

Hi Moms, I have made a huge decision to have the LapBand surgery done. After watching my own Mom stay around 300lbs all my life and now seeing the multitude of health problems that plaque her - I long to once and forall lose the weight I've been carrying since I was a small child. I have two GREAT reasons for making this decision - Abigail whose 16 months old and Emma who is 10 weeks. I long for my daughters to learn to use food as merely a fuel sourse and not their best friend. I long to have the energy to get down in the floor and play...

Sleepers with Feet, Size 18 Months

I am wondering which sleepers have worked best for you. I prefer the ones with feet in them, and we do like Carters. The light weight summer ones from The Children's Place have too much pull on them, meaning, my son can crawl right out of them..... What has worked for you, and at what age did you introduce a blanket into their crib? Thanks!!

Need Suggestions for a Special Gift

My niece is turning one next week! I'm really excited to be able to make the trip to go see her and celebrate at her party (we live 5 hrs away). Of course I'm giving her a gift, but I'm not sure what yet. My dilemma is that I want it to be special, and not to get lost in the pile of other gifts she'll be receiving. My BIL's side of the family is huge, our family is a decent size, plus there will be friends there as well. I don't think everyone invited will come, but for sure more than half, and that's probably going to be at least 25...

What's the Deal with Preschool Teachers Not Being Allowed to Apply Sunscreen?

My almost 4 year old's preschool teachers just sent home a note telling us to make sure to slather our kids with sunscreen in the morning when we drop them off because teachers are not legally allowed to put sunscreen on students. When I asked, I was told that the same policy applies for camp this Summer. Does anybody know if this is a 'touching' issue or an 'administration of medication' issue and if there is any way around it (like a permission form to fill out)? My son has pretty pale skin and I'm getting nervous about him getting...

Kickproofs Socks with Grippers?

Does anyone have a recommendation for socks that are both kickproof/wiggleproof and that have grippers. We used the Carter's kickproof 6-12 mo. socks (which worked wonderfully), but now our 10-month old has outgrown them plus we also need some with grippers on the bottom since she is learning to stand and walk and we have hardwood floors. I've tried a few types with grippers, but then keep coming off as she plays and crawls around.

Has Anyone Found Toddler Pajamas That Are Actually Comfy?

I am seriously irritated at how tight they make toddler pajama tops. Carters, Baby Gap, Old Navy, Children's Place, all of them. My 19 month-old little guy can't stand it, tosses and turns and yanks and fusses at how constricting the tops are. (It would drive me nuts if I had to wear something that tight too.) I even tried buying them in bigger sizes, and they are still tight, just longer and tight. I've had to stop using the pj tops altogether, and instead, dress him in long sleeve t-shirts to wear with the pajama bottoms. My little guy...

Lots of Drooling Need Recommendations

My best friend's daughter is drooling like crazy. She is almost eight months old and we know it's because she is teething. My friend is going crazy because she has a zillion of those little bibs and she still has to change her baby's clothes all the time. I would like to get her some bibs as a gift. Any suggestions? TIA.

Help! My Squirmy Toddler Will Not Lay Still for Diaper Changes

Lately my 19 mo old has become very active when it comes time to change her diaper. She screams, kicks, twists and turns every which way. Then she will try to crawl or walk away fast if on floor. So what should take no more than a few minutes, usually takes 15-20 min. It doesn't matter if I change her on the changing table, bed or floor. What do you do to keep your toddler from moving? I never had this problem with my boys.
