5 Month Old Breastfed Baby, Sleep Issues, Formula and Miracle Blanket

I think I may have a unique problem that is a combination of breastfeeding, swaddling, sleep, and sanity... My 5 month old daughter Isabella was never a great sleeper. She cluster fed from the beginning and if it wasn't for the pump I think I would have either given up breastfeeding or jumped off a bridge! A friend of mine highly recommended the miracle blanket which is sort of like a baby straightjacket. It worked in extending her sleep by an hour or two (when she only slept a couple of hours, it was very helpful) and it became...

Baby Still Sleeping in Swing

My daughter had colic, so I followed the advice of Dr. Harvey Karp's book, "The Happiest Baby on the Block." In that book, it says that it is ok to let a colicky infant sleep in a swing, and that is the only place she would sleep, so that is where she has been sleeping. It worked great and actually allowed us all to get some sleep. The problem now is that she is 3 months old and will not go to sleep while lying flat. I don't really know what to do. I had thought about buying a positioner for her to put in her crib, but most of those say...

Sleeping in Bouncy Seat

Okay...I just HAVE to get feedback from you Moms on this one!! My daughter is 4 mos old and has not slept in her crib or bassinet yet. She had a heart murmur at birth but we ruled out that was not causing her any discomfort when on her back. She has always cried when placed on her back to sleep. She will lay on her back on her play mat and kicks up a storm, but when placed on her back to sleep, she screams. When in her deepest sleep and placed on her back, she is awake within minutes screaming. Part of me thinks she is now accustomed...

My Baby Has Colic

Hey guys, I have a 5 week old with colic. I am breastfeeding him, and have tried taking out dairy, spicy foods, raw veggies and caffine. Nothing has helped. I have tried gas drops and that doesn't do anything either. He is on medication and it helps with his acid reflux... but he is still so irritable at night. He is very fussy at night, I have heard that there is nothing you can do about colic... we have started a routine with a bath at night to try to calm him... I have also heard something about the miracle blanket, do you know anything...

Weaning Our 5 Month Old from a Swaddle - Please Help!!!

My 5 month old is completely dependent on a swaddle to sleep. She currently uses the miracle blanket and needs it 100% of time. If she is not swaddled tight enough, she will figit until she becomes loose and wakes up. We have tried to go "cold turkey" by putting her to bed with nothing, but no success. We also have swaddled only one arm and she still is unable to self sooth. I struggle with this because she is such a good sleeper with it and if we remove it, what will our days and night be like? Does anyone have any suggestions or...

A Binky Problem...

My daughter is just over a month old and I cannot get her to sleep at night. She seems to fight it. She gets so grumpy around 8 pm so I try putting her to bed. First we rock until she falls asleep so then I take her and lay her in her pack n play. (she is still sleeping in my room) As soon as her binky falls out she starts crying. She will continue to cry until I go in and put it back in her mouth. I have tried to let her fall back asleep on her own but she just gets so upset that it doesn’t happen. We go through the binky ordeal...
