How to Further Challenge My Gifted 3 Year Old

My daughter is 3 years old and is very gifted in the area of letters and reading. Before she turned 2 years old she surprised one day. She pointed to a letter in a book and told me what it was. I never knew that she could recognize her ABC's-only say them. Then, I asked her what another letter was and she told me that one also. I randomly asked her what the letters I was pointing to were and she almost knew the whole alphabet. So from there on out I would test her and ask her what certain letters were out of signs, newspapers,etc....

My 4 Year Old Little Girl Having Nightmares and WILL Not Sleep in Her Own Bed...

Like I said I have a 4 year old little girl and she says she has nightmares at least 3 to 4 times a week and we have tried all kinds of things like having water in a spray bottle and squirting it ALL around her room and telling her that is the monster and nightmare spray to make it go away.. It didn't help.. We give her a night light, she still cries waking up.. As well, staying with her until she falls asleep, that doesn't work she will wake up screaming if she is alone.. She doesn't even like to stay inside our house if we are outside.....

Taking Baby to the Beach!

We are taking our 10 mos old to Sanibel Island next month for not only his first beach trip, but his first trip of any kind. We will be flying and I wonder if anyone has any good suggestions for baby in flight and for the beach! We've packed ourselves for the beach many times, but never baby! I know there will be a million things we didn't think of! Also, because we are flying, it will be hard to take much big stuff...any suggestions or knowledge of places that may rent baby items short term?

My 4-Year-old Constantly Wants Me to Play with Her: Advice?

Hi, Just wondering how other moms have responded to their young kids when they want you to play with them. Lately my 4-year-old daughter is constantly asking me to play with her (usually pretend-play), and gets upset when I have to do other things like housework. She seems to have lost the ability to entertain herself, and it's driving me a bit crazy. She has a younger brother (19 months), but he's too young to really play with her the way that she wants to. Any ideas on what to do?

Stay at Home Schedule

I am looking to create a daily schedule for our 4 year old. Some thing from 8AM wake up time to 8 or 8:30 PM sleep time. Some basic activities, structured play, he is a type A personality child and we are trying to get him into a daily routine to have more peace in the house. Plus I DO NOT LIKE the amount of tv he gets in a day. He has an addiction to the tv we can't even turn it on for us (the adults) because he gets glued to it. It is extremely difficult to get him to sit still at any time for anything, even meals. I breastfeed...

3 Year Old Daughter Acting Out After New Baby

I think my daughter is finally showing signs after having a new baby 4 months ago. She is showing aggressive behavior, acting out, talking back and saying she's the baby and not even LOOKING at the potty anymore. She says "NO TOILET!" and is starting to throw little tantrums about anything in general these days. We have no clue how to discipline and it has evolved into us basically yeling at her all the time which isn't good for anyone I'm sure. i feel like a horrible mom and I am getting worse because my patience are wearing thin. any...

3 Year Old Behavior Problems...Possibly Being Kicked Out of Preschool!

I have a 3yr old daughter. She turned 3 in March and currently attends preschool. She went to a private preschool until two months ago and then I moved her to a public preschool. She has always been a sweet and loving child until lately. Her teachers at preschool have started giving me daily behavior reports about how my daughter kicks or hits the other children in her class. There are at most 10 kids in the class and one teacher and sometimes an aide. The reports vary from hitting to kicking other children in the face. Today the...

3 Year Old-being Quiet and Calm Expectations

So there are kids who are 2, 3 ,4 years old who can sit in a grocery cart calmly and quietly or one's who can sit in church with a book or little toy quietly. Then there are kids who can't! Is it personality or is it not proper parenting? I envy those parents who have young kids and can bring them to events that require them to be patient and still. My 3 1/2 year old cannot! Is it that I am not teaching/parenting him at home or in public to sit calm and quiet? Or is it personality that I can't change? I am not talking about mis...
