Urgent - Seeking Advice on Monitoring Home Care Worker

Hi! My Mom, My best friend, is very ill. She requires 24 hour care and is now unable to speak or effectively communicate, much like a baby. I am extremely concerned, I am actually sick over this, but I am not sure how her current aide is treating her. This is a desperate feeling and I need to do something quickly without making matters worse. Maybe I am wrong here, the aide seems pleasant enough, but something is just not sitting right with me. I am asking if anyone has any information regarding a good system for video monitoring of...

Transitioning from a Crib to a Bed - When??

Hi all! I have a 25 mo old daughter. She sleeps in her crib for naps and at night. She rarely cries at night (knock on wood) and sleeps all the way through...once she gets to sleep! We are considering transitioning her into a big girl bed, but realize there's no real push either. She falls asleep almost immediately for her naps - maybe within 5 minutes - BUT - at night - I lay her down and she plays for up to 45 minutes - not sits and plays - throws herself from one side of the crib to the other. Stomps at the wall- throws her stuffed...

Nursery Decoration Ideas

Hi all, I'm 14 weeks pregnant with my and my husband's first child, and I'm already thinking about decorating a room for the baby. We don't intend to find out the sex of the baby--we want to be surprised! That said, does anyone have any ideas that an essentially untalented mommy-to-be could pull off with not too much effort?? Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks!

How Hard Should It Be to Get a Baby to Take a Pacifier?

I would like to be a able to use a pacifier with my 2-month-old daughter, but she usually spits it out. My mom had some success with getting her to take it in the first month and after she left, I tried to continue with it with mixed results. Now my baby seems to reject it every time. When my son, who is now three, was a baby he acted like he was going to gag on the pacifier, so I stopped using it pretty quickly. This caused him to be more dependent on me and wanting to breastfeed constantly. I'd like to try to avoid this with my...

6Wk Old Baby Needs to Be Held to Sleep

Hi, i understand that baby's sleep habits will change from time to time. I want to know if my baby girl 6 wks is too young to let cry to sleep. since birth she slept alot until recently. being more and more awake and less naps. (which of course means less sleep for me). i know she gets tired and cranky and wants to sleep but have trouble falling asleep sometimes (especially when i want her to at night) unless i let her sleep on my chest or hold up on my shoulders. I get tired of letting her sleep on my chest because i'm lounging on a love...

2 Qs...Bouncers And Teddy Bears.

SOOOO.... 2 questions... 1~ My DD is 3 months old. Is this too young to get her a bouncer? I want to get one of those activity bouncers...She can sit on her own (she needs help getting there... but once she's sitting she is good.) and has excellent head control... She also loves to "stand" for up to 5 minutes at a time. (she is standing on her own, just uses us for balance. lol) She has a floor gym that she likes... but she gets MAD if she is laying down too long. She wants to be sitting or standing. We put her in her bouncy chair, but...

2 Year Old Sleep Problems - Please Help

Hi. My almost 2 year old is having sleep problems and I m 8.5 months pregnant and nearly going insane from it. She will wake up and scream and cry all night. All she wants is to come into our bed. Nothing else helps - comforting, crying out, milk, etc. When she goes to grandma's house she sleeps like an angel all night long, so something is going on with us. She comes into our bed sometimes to cuddle in the morning or throughout the day. I don't know what to do. Crying out has worked before (takes days and days) but now I am going crazy bc...

Soap/Shampoo Recommendations for Infant W/ Eczema

My 4 month old daughter is dealing with eczema. It seems to be brought on by the colder weather and changes in humidity. (We've been using a humidifier in her room to help.) I have used dreft detergent since she was born without any problems, however, I am thinking of switching to ALL free and clear to see if that helps. I lather her up with Aquaphor multiple times a day and that does seem to give her the most relief. I also use an Aveeno lotion once in a while. I use cortizone on the big flare ups as needed, but it's worse around her...

28 Month Old Suddenly Won't Go to Bed

We have been so lucky for 28 months. Our daughter has gone to bed like clockwork with no complaints. Except for a brief weening of the pacifier just before her 2nd birthday, she has just about always gone right down and slept through the night. 2 nights ago, though, she began screaming and grabbing me, begging me not to put her in bed. I calmed her down, and walked out only to hear her ramp up and start bawling again. I waited a few minutes and went in and held her to calm her down. But as soon as I put her in bed, the screaming started...
