Breastfeeding and Solids

I have been so confused on how to combine breastmilk and solids. I have a 9 mo old son. I work full time so have to have my son take breastmilk from a bottle during the day which makes me question how much he should be drinking from a bottle when introducing solids into the mix. I nurse him 1st thing in the morning, then pump 3 times at work producing only about 4 oz per pump, then I nurse him right before bedtime. He will have breakfast, lunch & dinner now of solids. Do i have him drink milk prior to each meal or after or how should...

Baby Supplies - What Saved You Money and Time

i know this question was asked not long ago and was somewhat different. I am going to my SIL baby shower in November and I am wondering what would save her the most time and money? What would she not be able to live without? What did you get at your baby shower that was the OMG gift? I am not sure what my budget is yet. This is her first and the first grandchild on bfs side.

What Do You Really Need for an Infant?

So it's been 8 years since I last had a baby to care for. I am expecting again and am at a loss for what I really need and trying to prioritize. I have looked at many registries and think they include a lot of frivolous items (wipe warmers ect) So if you could go back in time and know then what you know now, what are your must have items. When I say I have nothing I mean not one baby item at all. I know I'll need a crib, clothes, ect. I also plan on breastfeeding, so I will need a pump for when I return to work and there are so many to...

Breastmilk Safety Question

Hello moms! I have a quick question. I have all the breastmilk safety guides, but still am unclear about one thing. Once breast milk has been in the refridgerator and I take it out to warm it in a bowl of warm water....how long can the breast milk sit out (before baby drinks from the bottle)? On occasion, I take the bottle out when baby is normally about to wake from a nap and will be ready to eat...and then she sleeps longer so I have to put it back in the fridge. Thanks in advance for the help!

First Time Breastfeeder!!

I am about 5 weeks away from my expected due date and am having major anxiety about breastfeeding. First of all I am very scared of the whole thing but want to try my hardest because I know it's beneficial in so many ways. My question is, does anyone out there recommend a breast pump for a first time mom that will be going back to work? I have read a lot about the Medela brand and most people agree that it is a good brand but I just read about the Ameda brand and read many great things about it. Any suggestions??

Working Moms: Feeding/Sleep Schedule

When you went back to work, did you put your baby on a set feeding/sleeping schedule? I'm headed back next week (unfortunately) and am not sure what to do. My daughter will be 14 weeks next week, but she was a little premature so adjusted age is 8 weeks. I'd like to keep letting her eat & sleep on demand (she sleeps great at night, so no issues there), but not sure how to make it work along with pumping...I don't want to get so out of sync that I can't nurse her in the evenings/night/early morning, but I want her to be able to eat when...

Questions About Breast Pumps

I have a lot of questions about breat pumps. I will have to return to work about 6 weeks after having my baby so I will need to pump my breastmilk. I have heard that the Medela and Ameda pumps are good. Also heard that the Lasinoh is comparible to the Ameda. Any thoughts? Do most pumps come in standard sizes so any bottle can attach to it? Also anybody know how often I will need to pump? Obviously, there's a lot I don't know about pumping!

Anyone Used PJ Comfort Breast Pump?

Hi Moms Has anyone ever used the PJ comfort breast pump? What did you think? With my daughter I used a Medela hospital grade rental. This time I would like something as powerful but more portable. My health insurance company sent me a discount voucher for the PJ comfort, but I had never heard of it and even with the discount it is very expensive. Is it worth it? I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences (or other breast pump recommendations!) Thanks!!
