Nervous About Giving 6 Month Old Benadryl

Hi ladies, My six month old has been up with a stuffy nose and coughing for the past two nights. The doctor says she has a viral illness (no ear infection, nothing with the lungs) and suggested we use Benadryl to relieve her symptoms. We want to keep trying what we have been doing (running the humidifier, going into a steamed bathroom, maybe try sleeping in a car seat or with her head elevated, saline drops) before trying the benadryl. Not that I am against medicines, but I am nervous about giving this to her unless she is really...

Infant and Benadryl

My 8 month old son weighs 16 pounds, 12 ounces and his doctor prescribed 1/2 teaspoon of Benadryl before bedtime. Everything I read says not to do it unless they are a year old. I'm afraid to give him the Benadryl. Has anyone given their child who is under a year old Benadryl?

Asthma or Not?

Sorry, this is going to be long ....My 3 1/2 year old daughter has had respiratory problems since she was 1. Everytime she gets sick, it goes right to her chest. Before I purchased a nebulizer she went to the emergency room twice. When she was 2 1/2 she had RSV. I've taken her to a pulmonologist, he tested her for allergies, and she isn't allergic to anything (like pollen, dust, etc.) We tried Pulmicort for months at a time, she still got the same attacks after her colds. I have tried Singulair, and that worked great for her runny...

Cold, Runny Nose Advice

My 18 month old has her first cold. She has a runny nose, and drainage that made her gag and throw up a little last night. I could hear that she has a lot of drainage and was having trouble breathing through her nose. I have been SO very lucky that she has been a very healthy child. She just started in a Mother's Day Out program, so I am sure she'll begin to pick up more germs. Can anyone give me advice on alleviating cold symptoms and what to watch for, in terms of this moving to an ear infection? Should I use the humidifier? Vapor rub?...
