Increasing Milk Production

Hi moms! I could use some advice. I am a new mom with a one week old baby. I had to start supplementing formula because my daughter dropped a pound from her birth weight which is more than the maximum 10%. My milk came in the next day, but my production is low. She is not satisfied after breastfeeding and we have to give her a bottle. She usually drinks around 2 oz from the bottle and then will sleep for around 2 hours. Any suggestions on increasing my production? I have been trying to pump to work on increasing it. Has anyone...

How to Add Cereal to a Bottle

I have a question about adding cereal to a bottle. I have tried to add a small amount of rice cereal to my son's bottle, but it only clogs up the hole in the nipple. I am not putting very much at all in, so how do I avoid this? I use the Playtex Nurser system. Maybe I need a different kind of bottle nipple. I have tried using a nipple with a bigger hole, but that doesn't work either. I have heard countless people say they have added cereal to milk or formula, so I know it can be done. I could never figure out how to make this work when I...

Broken Puerly Yours Pump

I just broke my "purely yours" pump tonight. My son is 9 1/2 months old and I'd like to continue breast feeding until June and I work full time until then. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to repair a broken pump or what I should do? I hate to have to buy a brand new pump.

Going Back to Work Need Advice on Breastfeeding/pumping!!!

ok, so i am going back to work in a little less than 2 weeks. my dd will be 8 weeks old and is exclusively breast fed, she loves it. it has been difficult getting her to take a bottle, but we are working on it. with my older daughter when i went back to work, i had a terrible pump, and was never able to pump much, therefore she was on formula during the days i was not with her, then i breastfed her everytime i was. this time around i have a much better pump, and have been pumping here and there to stock up, for when i go back to work. ...

Formula - Store Brand vs Name Brand

I've been using Similac Soy. I've heard that store brand is the same thing, only much cheaper. Does anyone know if this is true? And can anyone recommend a specific off-brand that has worked well that is soy based. The first bottle my daughter had (right after she was born) she spit it up. The nurses then put her on soy. So that's what I've kept her on. I may try to switch back later. She is only 3 weeks old. My first daughter was on soy too. She tolerates milk and all milk products now (she's 2 1/2).
