Pregnant Mom on Bed Rest Looking for Things to Do with 4 Year Old. HELP!

I am 36 weeks pregnant and have been on-and-off bed rest for 3 months. I am looking for things to do with our fabulous 4 year old daughter - inside or outside. I am on "modified" bed rest so I don't have to be laying down, I can sit. It's hard to think of fun things to do in the house or backyard where I can sit with my feet up. She starts preschool next week which will help, but I feel horrible because we used to go to the park, go swimming, go for walks and be active and now she's stuck here with me. She is already feeling like the baby...

Baby #2 Due in 3 Weeks- How to Talk to 3 Year Old About Being in the Hospital

Hello. I am due to have my second baby in about 3 weeks and have been trying to figure out a the best way to tell my 3 year old daughter that I will be in the hospital for a day or two giving birth. I am looking for suggestions on a way in which she will understand the "reality" of coming home with a new baby. She is very excited to meet our new baby but I imagine it is going to be different once the new baby arrives. She is very much our "focus" and we give all of our time and love to her now- which of course will be shared very soon....

Advice on Preterm Labor

I am not quite 34 weeks pregnant and was put on strict bedrest this afternoon after the Dr. discovered that I have dilated to a 3 and am 50% effaced. As long as I'm laying down, I don't have contractions, but the second I stand up and/or walk, I have constant contractions (although they're not painful). I've done quite a bit of research about complications the baby could experience, but I would appreciate hearing from anyone who's delivered a baby at this stage--what to expect, etc. Also, what's the likelihood that I'll be able to hold...

Should I Have an Amniocentesis??

I am 37 years old and just went through my 2nd trimester screening. Although my numbers came back "negative" and I tested out 1 in 400 for my chance of Down Syndrome, my doctor is saying it might still be a good idea to get it done this week (I am now 19 weeks pregnant). I am completely freaking out at the thought of this test, as I've had 3 D&C's within the past 4 years due to pregnancy complications. I am fearful of risking anything as a result of the amnio, but at the same time, I am over 35 and not really sure what I would do if the...

Favorite "Sibling-to-be" Books?

Hi there! Just wanted to know if any of you have a favorite "big sibling to be" book or video? My daughter just turned 2 and will become a big-sister when she is around 2 1/2 years old. I know there are a lot of books on the market, so it makes it hard to narrow down a couple to I thought I'd ask you gals...the experts! Thanks a bunch! A.
