Can Prolonged Use of Hydrocortisone Cream Affect Growth of Child?

Hello moms. My 18 month old boy has chronic eczema since he was 6 months old and have been using a hydrocortisone cream prescribed by our pediatrician. We have been applying this cream, a 2.5% formulation cream since he was an infant with varying degrees of eczema relief. He has needed it on a daily basis and we have been applying it twice a day to his ankles, wrists and behind the knee--the areas that are affected. We also use Aquaphor and pretoleum jelly emollients to relieve his dry skin. We have not asked our pediatrician though...

Tween on Adderall, Pupils Dilated?

Hi all, my 11 yr old is on Adderall for ADHD. We increased her dose from 5mg to 10mg about 2 weeks ago and her moods have been so extreme. Very happy and hyper one day and then super sad sometimes. I thought she was staying up past bedtime reading which I know this would make her super tired and cranky but she says she's not. Anyway, my biggest concern is that her pupils are dilated and they have been since yesterday. I didn't notice it until last night and they are still dilated this AM. Is this normal? I want to call the doctor but...

Acid Mantle (Cream Mixed with Hydrocortisone) - Is It Safe?

I have a 15 month old son who has extremely sensitive skin and had horrible ezcema (sp?) since he was an infant. We found out that it was mostly caused by an allergy to pet dander so we had to give up our pug. Well, we have been using a prescription cream on him called A-Mantle since he was about 6 months old that our Pediatric Allergist prescribed (who is associated with CHOP). This cream is a hydrocortisone mixed with some other type of cream. We use it on him practically every single day (since he still has ezcema). I specifically...

Diaper Rash with Diarrhea

My 13 month old daughter has her 1st diaper rash, which is bright red and seems to have small opening in her skin. It is mostly on the buttock area right below her genitals. It started 3 days ago along with Diarrhea (also her 1st time having diarrhea). I think it is starting to hurt her because about 50% of the time when I am wiping her she starts crying and screaming. I am using Desitine and almost through a new tube in the last 3 days. I am putting it on really thick and covering the entire red area. I am also letting her skin air...

Severe Ezema & Croupe Cough

Hello! My son has severe ezema, and croupe caugh he has had both since he was a few days old. He was diagnosed with the ezema at 8 days old, we have moved to a cooler city, since the heat really bothers him. Everytime he breaks out, he gets the croupe a few days later. I refuse to dress him head to toe, since he then breaks out more, and screams so he is always, most of the time, in shorts and a tee. I do not know what to do, he have been working with our pediatrician and he gives us the steriod caugh medicine and the high cortizone...

Hydrocortisone Cream and 6 Month Olds Face

My ped. put my son on perscription Hydrocortisone cream a few weeks ago for red spots, dry spots on his face. I have had skin issues all my life and have always been told not to use HC for a long period of time. I try to not use the cream all the time, so I apply when he has the spots and when they go away I stop, BUT they come back a day or two later. Should I stop using this and find something else, call the doctor? Or just use it?? Any suggestions?
