Claritin or Zyrtec for Pregnancy and 3 Year Old?

Hi mommies. I am currently 7 months pregnant and my doc said I can take claritin or zyrtec. Which works best!? I am so miserable this year I can barely stand to be awake! My 3 year old is also suffering this year. His doc said the same medicines. Which works best for allergies in adults and children?

Claritin and Other Allergy Meds

My son often gets runny nose/cough symptoms and my pediatrician has recommended that I try putting him on Claritin to manage those symptoms. I am reluctant to put him on medicine for prolonged periods of time. Dose anyone have information about any potential harmful effects of long-term use of allergy medicines in toddlers? Also, any suggestions of natural remedies that have worked would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Could This Be More than Just a Regress in Bed Wetting?

My five year old has been potty trained for almost two years now. She had been having a lot of trouble with allergies and her dr started a daily regimen of Claritin. After about a week and a half of starting the Claritin daily she began wetting the bed. But not just wetting the bed, during the day she is having trouble getting to the potty in time and pees on herself, she says when she runs she pees on herself and when she naps, she pees on herself. She uses the bathroom very frequently so it's not her just being busy and not going to the...

Always Stuffy Nose

My 2 1/2 year old daughter has been having this stuffy nose problem for past 3-4 weeks or so. She's not sick and doing well, but her nose is always stuffy. Not runny or have cold symptoms, but I guess something must be bothering her nose. It's not stuffy 24 hours, but she usually has something in her nose that bothers her and sometimes it's hard for me to watch her being so bothered by her stuffy nose. She hates the saline spray, so when I try to use that on her, she panics and gets upset. And even when I do get that in her nose, it...

Allergy Med for Asthmatic?

Hi! My 4 year-old has viral-induced asthma (only has asthma when sick with a cold and at no other times). He is on Singulair and Flovent regularly and Pulmicort and Albuterol nebulizer treatments when sick. He got a cold on Wednesday and we started his cold-induced asthma plan right away. Our Pulmonary Doctor has said to have him on his sick plan for a few more days. He also ended up with a double ear infection with this cold and he started with antibiotics yesterday. He has had allergy testing and came out negative for...

Claritin Side Effects with Toddlers

Has anyone given claritin to a toddler and experience behavioral side-effects? My 2.5 year old has been taking Claritin for a little over a week and has been acting up much more than usual (e.g., throwing things and hitting). I realize that some of his behaviors are typical 2 year old behaviors, but his behavior definitely seems to have changed since starting the allergy medicine.
