Too Much Princess?

My parents watch my 2 year old two days a week and are great with her. They have more than just a occasional grandparent role in her life and have a big influence on her. No offense to anyone, but my husband and I don't like princess and all things girly for her. She certainly wears pink and has dolls, but we also expose her to Curious George, Elmo, sports etc. We just don't love princess as a role model. My parents are over the top on all things princess, dance, frilly, etc and it is starting to annoy us. She came home with 2 princess...

Is 5 Years Old Too Old to Wear a Princess Tiara in Public?

My 5 year old daughter loves to wear a princess tiara when we go out. It makes her feel pretty and happy. I notice lately that we are getting long stares from just about everyone that passes by. Is 5 too old to be wearing a tiara in public places? She is tall and looks a bit older that 5 years old, so imagine a 6 year old with a tiara in public.

"My Princess Boy" and "What Would You Do"...

I have a little girl (two actually) that are 1/2 princess, 1/2 tomboy. My 3 y/o has an iron man mask, pirate costumes, police costumes, as well as princess and fairy costumes. I have no issue with her playing with trucks or trains or cars. I seriously cannot understand why it's so "unheard" of to have boys play house or barbies. How many of you moms would be weirded out if your boy would be intersested in this kind of play? I have no boys yet, but my hubby agrees with me.

Toys in Your Living Room?

People with small children and small houses: do you allow toys in your living room? I have 2 preschoolers and a 2 bedroom apartment. My youngest is moving into a big bed now which means even less space to play in their room. I suggested to my husband that we get some sort of toy shelf for the living room and he was adamently against it- he doesn't want our common area cluttered with play things. While I agree with him ideally, realisitically I don't think it's even fair to make them keep ALL their things in their room when pretty much...

Seeking Guidance with Mom Who Overspends on My Kids

Mu mom is retired with a very fixed income. She was a social worker/teacher her whole career (single mom). In the past she's had a problem with debt/almost declaring bankruptcy at one point. She has a credit card for every major store in America and uses them to overspend on my children. We got TEN boxes FILLED with Christmas gifts. I just got two boxes filled with new clothes for both kids. I know (because I saw a statment) she doesn't pay off her bills. I feel so angry about this. Do I 1. Ignore and let her be? 2. Tell her how I feel (she...
