Breast Reduction Surgery for a 16 Year Old.

About a year ago my daughter started talking a lot about having back pain. She was a fairly active girl and I assumed it was probably just from a long volleyball season and a cold winter. We treated it with hot baths and Advil. This was fine up until the end of February, The pain was a constant thing by then and it was starting to prevent her from sleeping. She got irritable because she could never fall asleep and if she did fall asleep and happened to roll over onto her side she would wake up with pain so terrible she would just lay in bed...

Allergy or Not?

Recently my hands and feet started to itch something fierce. I thought maybe it was an allergy to something, but it seems to be mostly at night (occasionally in the daytime). I have seen my regular dr., but they haven't been much help, only referring me to a dermatologist. I have done some research on the internet and there are some things that I've read regarding similar symptoms--from high blood pressure, to diabetes, to carpel tunnel syndrome. Just wondering if anyone out there has suffered anything similar or knows someone that has....

Unmotivated 16 Year Old

My 16 year old daughter is very smart, but is very unmotivated to complete her school work, therefor seems to be running a C average in almost everything. I speak to her teachers who say she 'drifts off' in class. She often gets zeros for homework she 'does not feel like doing'. I realize a C average is not the end of the world, but I know she is capable of more and would like her to be able to go to college. I have taken away privliges, offered incentives, etc, and she says she will do better, and may for a very short time, then its back...

17 Year Old Drinking

My 17 year old came home tonight, past curfew, totally wasted. She was falling over drunk. Her friend (who was sober) brought her home and apologized multiple times for letting her drink so much. I am really glad she has a friend who was watching out for her when she was making bad choices. I know that teenage drinking is not out of the norm. I'm not naive, and I have talked with her multiple times about drinking and drugs, letting her know our expectations, but I know that she is going to make her own decisions. I have always...

What to Do About This Orthodontist?

So my daughter has completed her “phase one” of orthodontic work to fix an overbite. During that course of treatment, starting around the age of 10, she had 6 teeth pulled. The first two by a dentist and the other 4 by a oral surgeon with laughing gas. After the first teeth pulling my daughter was beyond traumatized so that is why we spent the extra dough to have an oral surgeon do the next recommended teeth to extraction. Now 2 years later, we are in the limbo phase before the 2nd phase where the orthodontist wants to put braces on...

Pediatrician or Family Doctor

Do your kids see a pediatrician or family practice doctor? If you had the chance to move from a Pediatrician to a family practice doctor 30 minutes CLOSER to home, would you do it? Hubby and I have been seeing the same doctor for years - longer than we have had kids. We have taken our kids to the same pediatrican's office that has four revolving doctors....I do not love or hate any of them so I feel no loyalty to stay when I found out that I could take them to our doctor! My mom suggested we keep my youngest there since he is only 6 months ...
