Air Travel Security

Hello Moms! Could you give me an idea of what I can bring on the plane in regards to juice and food? I have a one year old who is still nursing/bottle feeding with formula. I thought I could make up bottles and have the Flight Attendant put in warm water. What about juice, applesauce, etc... Thanks!

Similac Vs. Enfamil

Hello Mommies! I have a newborn, only 13 days old. We've figured out she has a milk intolerance so we started giving her Similac Alimentum formula about a week ago. Since, she has gotten better but now, about 20 mins after she eats, she goes through a rough period where she obviously uncomfortable, inconsolable crying, squirming, grunting, etc. I have heard that Similac products are harder on their systems than Enfamil products. I want to switch her to Enfamil Nutramagen but I'm waiting for the doctor to call me back. By the way, the...

Enfamil or Similac

Hi ladies, I am wondering if any of you have had the experience of using both of these brands and can help me make a decision on which to go with. I used Similac Isolmil Advanced with my daughter but just read a study that the Enfamil ProSobee Lipil has higher levels of nutrients in it than the Similac. I am so used to the name brand Similac that using something different worries me without some input. If any of you could share your experiences with me I would appreciate it! Also, just in case, I am not at all against breast feeding and...

Sedation for 15 Month Old

Hello all :) My 15 month old daughter has the beginnings of tooth decay and was told she would have to be sedated for fillings. We see a pediatric dentist next week. Can anyone give me some advice? Is there an alternative to sedation? I'm really scared about sedating such a young child. BTW, my dentist told me the tooth decay was from milk at night. I have her on Go and Grow Isomil by Similac. I was currently weaning her from anything but water at night. Guess I was too late. I'm very sad :(

Seeking Advice with Solid Foods and Formula

I have a healthy six month old son (20 lbs, 28 in long already at this age) who recently started eating solid foods. Up until that point, he was drinking Similac w/ Early Shield formula and rice cereal twice a day (he's had the same formula since he was two months old when I stopped breastfeeding, started the rice cereal at 4 months). We started with bananas for about a week, no problems. Then we started sweet potatoes and it seemed like the number of BM diapers increased (from 1 BM per day to about 3 or 4) and they seemed a little on...

Similac Advance - Formula Question

Since our baby was born, she was breastfed, but needed a supplement. We continued using the formula we started on in the hospital - Similac Advance. She has been doing great with the 'ready to go' kind, getting less than 8 oz. a day supplement. I recently bought the Similac Advance 'Early Shield' variety. She has had non stop gas - starting 5 min. after she ate! I hate to think her little tummy is hurting because of it! Obviously I am not giving it to her again...but I am wondering if other moms out there had a similar experience? ...

Does Cow's Milk Affect Behavior?

Does anyone have experience with cow's milk affecting behavior? I have two year old twins and and 9 month old. When they were babies they had inexplicable rashes. This occurred after I supplemented with formula at about 6 months. My 9 month old now has a rash which coincides with switching from breastfeeding to formula(they look like heat rashes). I switched from milk to almond milk for my twins and I swear their behavior has dramatically improved. Could this be a coincidence since they are almost three and have finally adjusted to a new...

Congestion Due to an Allergy?

My 4 1/2 month daughter has had continuous episodes of congestion and sneezing. Her ped does indicate that she has an allergy and keeps having us switch formulas. I tried to breastfeed but was unable to produce enough milk so we started her on Similac Advance. Since then we have tried Similac Soy and Good Start Natural & Cultures which she had an allergic reaction to both of them. She is currently on Similac Lactose Free. She is still congested and has ezcema. We recently just tried the Similac Alimentum. She will not eat it. In fact, she...

Almost 5 Month Old on Zyrtec and Pulmicort

My baby is normally a happy child. She has been wheezing a bit so they put her on both meds. I guess it is just the season, I had to hit my own inhaler yesterday. But five months old is still so young, especially with the Pediatrician saying they don't normally diagnose asthma til about 9 months. The zyrtec seems to burn her throat, so i've taken to mixing it with a teaspoon or so full of milk. She has only had two days worth of the pulmicort. She fought like a trooper yesterday with that mask on, so today i tried propping her up...

My 7 month old son has really bad eczema. I've tried every lotion, body wash, detergent-you name it, I tried it. He was on Good Start formula, then I switched him to Good Start Soy. Also, where can I find coupons for Similac formula because it is $25 for a little can. Thanks.

Question About Preparing Similac in Batches

I prepare batches of Similac powdered formula and keep it in the fridge for when I need it. The "recipe" Similac gave me when I called their 800 number was 23oz of water to 1 level cup of powder. The yield is 26 oz of formula. This is fine now while my baby does not go through 26 oz in a day yet, but soon she will. I want to make a larger amount and not fuss with individual scoops of formula if possible, but as you bakers and cooks know, simply preparing another half a recipe (11 1/2 oz water to 1/2 cup powder) may not work right. ...
