Long Flight with 2 Small Kids - Ideas?

Hi there, I'll be taking an 18 hr. flight (to visit family, in case you are wondering why in the world I would attempt this!) in a few weeks with my two little ones, almost 4 yr. old girl and 9.5 mo. old boy. I've made this trip with my daughter a few times and she's been great. This will be the first time I'll be traveling alone with the two kids. Any tips? Ideas of what to bring to entertain them? I'm planning to bring some old school Sesame Street on my iPhone with kid sized headphones for my daughter, as well as drawing stuff,...

15 Month Old Question

My daughter is very well behaved, whines a bit but other than that, it is her passion for exploration where I am at a loss right now. She has exhausted all her resources at her ground level. I thought teaching her that was a challenge. Now she wants to constantly be picked up to grab all the remaining things she hasn't explored. The light switches, bahtroom & kitchen counter, dressers... The worst is I have a 4 month old so when she screams and cries because I tell her no, or walk away (sometimes I explain, others I say not toys) she wakes...

Baby Shower Gift Ideas

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with a creative yet inexpensive gift idea. We've been invited to a shower but had not budgeted for it since originally they weren't planning to have one. One idea i loved but know someone else is doing is giving a magazine subscription to a parent type magazine. I usually like to give a themed gift (i.e. all bath items - towel, toys, etc) but that all adds up quickly! I'd like to keep the cost at $30 or under.

Strategies for Nightmares?

Mamas & Papas- DS, now 3.5 might have had a nightmare last night. He was crying at 3:15 am. I went to him and hugged him and asked what was wrong. I thought he said I want a popscicle, so I told him we can't have popscicles, it's time for bed, maybe a popscicle tomorrow. Apparently, I had misheard between the sobs. No mommy, I want my bicycle. Why is my bicycle broken? Your bicycle isn't broken darling. It's right where you left it. Let's hug some more, then you can go see your bicycle, and then back to bed. We established bicycle wasn...

Ours Was the Only One Acting Out in This Fashion- Sitting Still Suggestions??

Mamas & Papas - I know it is bad practice to compare kids, but at a christening party we attended this weekend, it was pretty conspicuous that ours was the only one acting out in this fashion. Admittedly, the other children there were either younger, i.e. less than a year, and not yet mobile, or older about 2- 2.5 or older. After romping with daddy and mommy, and going up and down the stairs and opening and closing doors at the church, when the baptism finally started, he kept still pretty well for the 15 minutes or so that the actual...
