Looking for Long Road Trip Tips and Tricks with a 2.5 Yr Old

We are about to travel from Chicago to the East Coast by car and would love to hear what those of you who have done it have found helpful while traveling for 16+ hours with a 2 1/2 year old. It will be me, my husband and my mom as well as our daughter. She is a good natured, calm kid for the most part and really good in the car, but we've never taken this long of a trip. She also doesn't sleep in the car that well, so I'm not counting on any naps. She isn't into TV just yet - but has just started watching Kai Lan, so we will download...

Advice on Potty Training

My son went through what I called "potty training boot camp" for 3 days 2 weekends ago. We've been consistant on the asking if he has to go, rewarding him for going, only doing pull ups at night, and then yesterday I just lost it. This child, though he will go on the potty, if he has underwear/pants on, he will pee or poop in them and immediately tell me, and not tell me BEFORE he has to go. I have been reiterating it daily many times to tell me prior, and he just doesn't care. Mommy cleans him up and he just goes on w/ his day. I am...

When to Get a Bike?

My daughter is 2, but she is about 31 1/2" tall. We know she is too short for a 12" bike, but I'm wondering how tall is tall enough for these bikes? She always wants one when we are in the store, but of course we can't get it because she is too short. Is there an approximate height that we need to wait for? I don't to keep trying out the bikes in the store & disappointing her every time if she is going to be too short for a while! I read a review from a parent that felt the kid should be at least 37" to ride the bike. By that height, my...

Hair Care for an Active 3 Year Old

I would like advice - my 3 year old daughter has beautiful long hair that falls in ringlet curls. However, I am having difficulty brushing it because she screams the whole time I do this. We tried 2 different varieties of "no more tangles" and she doesn't like the smell. I am considering just cutting it until she is a bit older. Any ideas to help me keep my sanity in the morning? Thank you!

I am looking for someone to make my 6yr old's birthday cake. I want a really good tasting cake, preferably not the store bought kind(Kroger, Albertsons, etc.) Does anyone know of a good bakery or person who does really good cakes in the Frisco area? Thank you for your input, E.

Potty Training My 2 Year Old

i have a head-strong 30 month old daughter who we are trying to potty train. we've been trying on and off for about 6 months now, but to no avail. she really resists the whole thing. we try to tell her that she's a big girl and that big girls use the potty and she says she's a baby and cries when we try to put her on the potty. i don't force her and many times it turns into a negotiation to even sit on the potty. then, as soon as she's off the potty and her pull-ups are back on, she'll do her business. it's getting a little frustrating and...

Help with 2Yr Olds Hair Care

I have a 2yr old with alot of hair. I was using baby shampoo when she was born till about when she was 1yr old, she just seemed to have an itchy scalp. So I switched to Loreal's kids shampoo, but she still had an itchy scalp. I went back to the baby shampoo for toddlers. But still the same result. She gets itchy and her hair gets tangles. I am looking to see if there is anyone out there with some suggestions on what kind of shampoo I could use to help with the itchy scalp and help with the tangles. When I mean she has alot of hair picture...

Taking Diapers and P.J.'s Off

Hi! My 2 1/2 year old daughter has been taking off her diapers and pajama's during naptimes and at bedtime. Often times she ends up wetting the bed. This has been going on for 2 months and I am getting tired of changing her bed and continuing to put on her diapers and pajama's. I have tried telling her if she does it, she can't watch her favorite t.v. show Dora The Explorer. This worked for a short time. Now I am letting her fall asleep naked, praying she doesn't have an accident. Then before I go tho bed, I put everything back on. This isn...
