Help with Diaper Rash

I have some questions about diaper rash. I'm a first time mother with twins, and it seems like we're always getting diaper rash. Am I just supposed to expect it constantly or are there ways to avoid it? I feel like as soon as we get it cleared up, it's back the next day. Is there a preventitive cream I'm supposed to use at all changes? And once I put cream on it how soon should I see improvements before I call the doctor about it? I use desitin and sometimes burts bees, but do you recommend other types? thanks!

Diaper Changing Question from a Newbie

I have never changed a diaper in my life and I am weeks away from our first baby. I have a couple questions. Can I use baby wipes from the start? I read online that you should use a warm washcloth for the first couple months because of sensitvity etc. That sounds crazy. Can't I just use sensitive skin wipes? Second, do I use baby powder and/or desitine type cream with every change? How do I know when to just change it vs. using a cream or powder? Any helpful tips would be great! Thanks in advance for your help, S.

Rash on 6 Month Old's Bottom

Our six month old has a rash on her bottom. We noticed a small couple of spots so started putting on A&D Ointment and change her every couple hours, whether really wet or not...(more frequently if needed...) and everyday the rash has gotten worse. We haven't really changed her diet, but she is fighting a cold and teething. We did (on recommendation of her ped)give her some plain yogurt about 5 days before the rash appeared. Since then, I have only given her cereal, formula and baby food that she is used to. Do you think she could be...

Milk of Magnesia on a Diaper Rash? Three Year Old with Diarrhea. Help!

My 3 year old has had diarrhea since yesterday and I've been looking for some kind of relief for his terrible rash. I read somewhere that milk of magnesia directly on the bum with cornstarch powder can soothe the acid burn. Has anyone tried this? Can anyone offer any remedy? He screams when I change him and I feel helpless. I have been using Penaten butt cream and even the prescription strength Vusion but he says it burns. And if anyone has advice about how to cure the diarrhea, I would greatly appreciate it. We are using the BRAT...

5 Year Old Girl with Hygiene Issues

Hi ladies - I was wondering if anyone out there had a good idea how to get a 5 year old to start taking better care of herself. We have a doctor's appointment again tomorrow for her 5th, 7th, hell maybe 10th (!) vaginal infection. She's had both bacterial, yeast and combination infections due to the simple fact that she refuses to wipe after using the restroom. I've cut most baths out, no scented soaps, remind her every time I see her going potty at home...but nothing seems to help. I can't be there all day when she's in preschool or...

Diaper Rash Remedies

Does anyone have any good diaper rash remedies? I've tried the over the counter creams, letting her be without a diaper, longer bath time. It doesn't seem to be clearing up. It's also not getting too bad, but she's maintaining a rash. With my son I used his eczema cream & it cleared it up immediately. However, now that eczema cream has the warning "may cause cancer"...so we've stopped using it. Also on that note, does anyone have a home remedy for exzema. Thanks

I Feel like I'm Going Crazy

The past few weeks have been tough. My hubby is working crazy crazy hours and is gone 14+ hours a day leaving me and the kiddo at home. My son has been sick to: crying all the time from to many yucky diapers and bad diaper rash. We are sleeping and he's not my normal little guy. I've noticed that my own nerves are gone. I'm tired and I find myself getting annoyed with my son fussing all the time. Is this normal? I adore my son but I am so worn out and no one seems to get it. My mother-in-law told me I was an awful parent for setting my son...

Sore "Down There" - Maybe TMI - Help!

So today I've been so irritated down there if you know what I mean. Just itchy. I don't know why. No weird discharge or anything. But, I did the worst thing you could possibly do. About an hour ago I just went to town and scratched the hell out of myself. DUH. Now, I am in soooo much pain! I took a mirror and looked and of course I am SUPER red and swollen. And I just hurt. What should I do to ease the pain? I know I just need to give myself a little time. I don't think I have an infection.....but I am still really itchy.

"Diaper Rash Cream Is Supposed to Hurt."

"Diaper rash cream is supposed to hurt." Those are the exact words from my dad.. . . Is this true???? I don't believe it, but my dad is adamant about it. My son is the point of needing to get a prescription for his diaper rash. I currently using Boudreaux's Butt Paste and it's not working. I have tried all the "natural" ways including baking soda bath, let it air out, Vaseline, chamomile tea in bath. I also have tried a little of the Up and Up diaper rash cream which is the one that is hurting my son. The second it touches his skin all...

My Two Year Old Has a Cow's Milk and Soy Allergy

We've recently made the discovery that my son has a cow's milk allergy by journaling his food for about a month, then doing a blood test. (He LOVES milk, cheese, ice cream, etc...) So, I stocked up on soy products. He adjusted well for about a week and a half until the severe rash and diarreah came back. Now we know he's also allergic to soy! I just spent three hours at a whole food store trying to find foods he can eat. (FYI- they have a helpful list of dairy free foods that they carry, unfortunately most of the items contain soy). ...

Sensitive Diaper Area Skin

Hi! I have dealt with diaper rashes with all my kids, but now this is one I haven't had before. My son is 4mos and had a rash all over his buttocks and in his folds, on scrotum, etc for the past 2mos. I've been to the Dr 2x and had tried all the creams, done baking soda soaks, use only water and cloth wipes, dry him well, blah blah blah.... Now the Dr is sending us to a dermatologist to r/o histiocytosis, which we are pretty sure he doesn't have. The Dr thinks he may just be one of those kids with extremely sensitive skin and we...
