What's in Your Travel First Aid Kit?

Hi Mamas! We are getting ready to go on a family trip before baby 2 arrives. We have a 20 month old son who is becoming more adventurous by the day. :) Thankfully he's only had a few bumps and bruises and scrapes that we've been able to care for at home. That being said, I'm packing over the next few days and I'd like to get a first aid kit together, for things like stings, bites, scrapes, cuts, burns, whatever we need to be prepared, I suppose. Do you have a first aid kit? What's are the essentials? Thanks everyone!

22 Month on Albuterol for More than 2 Weeks

My son was hospitalized over 2 weeks ago for his breathing issues. When he got out we went about a week and a half with albuterol treatment about twice a day. When I was certain his breathing was back to normal I stopped the treatment. The very next day he is sick again and I noticed really fast breathing timed his breathing and he was over 40 breaths per minute, did a breathing treatment and called the pediatrician in the morning. He added a month steroid given through the nebulous or and children's Allegra and said continue with the...

Tapering off Flovent and Decreasing Rescue Albuterol for Spring and Summer

Hello! My nearly 3 year-old has viral-induced asthma (only displays asthma symptoms when sick with a cold). His action plan that he's been on pretty much for 7 months is 2 44mcg puffs of Flovent every day and 1 pill of 4mg Singulair every day. Then, at the very first sign of a cold, for 5 days straight we increase the Flovent to 2 puffs 2 times a day and administer 4-6 90mcg puffs of Albuterol every 4 hours. This has worked really well in managing his cold/viral-induced asthma. I understand that the Flovent is preventative, daily...

Reaction to Albuterol

Hello, Mamas! I need some feedback. Our 3 year old son has asthma issues only when he has a respiratory illness. During those time, we have successfully given him his albuterol inhaler as a daily treatment for the wheezing and coughing until the illness subsides and he no longer needs it. That lasts maybe a week at the most. It's been over 10 months since the last time he had to use the inhaler, and we had to use it last night. However, within about 5 minutes, he started itching on his legs like crazy and the left side of face got...

Teething problems....I Think??????

My 9 mo. old has been teething since he was 3 mos. old. When he was 6 and 6 1/2 mos. old he cut his two bottom teeth and the past few weeks he's been trying to cut his top teeth. However for the past week or so he's been unbearable to handle. He stopped eating his usual rice cereal and baby foods and has only wanted to nurse (but that has even been hit or miss). He not sleeping, nap time he only sleeps 10 minutes here and maybe 20 minutes there. At night when he does sleep he wakes up every hour screaming his head off. I took him to...

Aggressive Behavior in 2 Year Old Boy

Our boy has started acting aggressive since before 18 months. He started pinching and hasn't really stopped. I have tried everything, and it comes and goes. He has recently really been acting bad when we change his diaper. He pinches, scratches, almost kicks me in the face, and has kicked my poor husband in the groin a few times as well as actually kicked him in the head. Again, we've tried talking, yelling, and patted his bottom to get his attention. Nothing works. My gut tells me that it may be the allergy medicine that we've been giving...

Can't Kick the Congestion

My daughter had RSV back in January and then Feb 14 I brought her back in because her hacking persisted and temperature spiked back up again. She tested negative for RSV and they said she had an ear infection. She was on amoxycillan for 10 days. Her hacking/congestion still persist with runny noses. I am sucking her nose out every morning and a few times a day over the weekend. The Dr said the congestion could last up to 8 weeks when she got the RSV. It has been that long and is still very bad in my opinion to the point that I am...

6 Month Old Infant on Albuterol for Wheezing and Cough. Side Effects Are Crazy!

Does anyone have any info on giving a child oral Albuterol. She has a seemingly productive cough but no other cold symptoms. Doctor told me it was a virus and prescribed oral Albuterol. Pharmacist said that it would make her hyper but I wasnt prepared for how hyper she would become. It is like having a baby on speed. I would consider stopping the treatment but want to know if anyone has similiar situation. Doctor seemed to have diagnosed her in 20 seconds. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Do You Take a Lot of Prescriptions?

I am just curious about this. My sister was over at my house the other day and opened my medicine cabinent and she yelled "Good Heavens! What is all of this?" She was freaking out because I take 5 prescriptions on a regular basis (for things like acid reflux, allergies, etc.) and vitamins on top of that. She was floored about it. I am 29 and I never really gave much thought to it. But she is 28 and thinks I am taking a ridiculous amount of meds & vitamins. So, just to satisfy my curiosity I want to see if I am in the norm or not. So - How...

Hello, I have a 17 month old who is on a nebulizer 2-3 times a day (more when he sounds bad) he is also on an allergy medicine that he takes at night. I'm concerned that we are relying too heavily on drugs and was wondering if there are any natural remedies out there that anyone has found successful.

Goats Milk, Carrot Juice and Water. Are These Bowel Movement Normal?

I flew w/ my 2 1/2 month old son to Tx, when we got home he developed a cough. He is 5 months now and still has this cough. The pediatrician has put him on Albuterol nebulizer and Singulair. The next step is Pulmicort nebulizer. I DO NOT want to go to this route with steroids! So I called a Naturalpathic Dr. She told me to take him off formula completely and give him 1/2 goat's milk and 1/2 carrot juice. So I started him 2 days ago with 1/3 water, 1/3 carrot juice (organic from the store) and 1/3 goat's milk (ultra pasturized. I cant find...
