Nursery Decorating Advice!

We are expecting a baby girl in June. A couple of years ago, we re-did our second bedroom with deep red walls, cream carpet, and white trim, closet doors, and shelves. It's a beautiful room, and since we put so much effort into it, we're trying to avoid re-decorating everything, but we're having a hard time finding a color scheme that will match. I really love the baby safari animal theme for bedding, etc. I have found some crib bedding that is mostly light pink and tan with some red accents in it. We want to keep the room light and airy...

Has Anyone Used Bed Rails on Toddler's Bed?

I need some advise on bed rails. We are moving my son into a big boy bed close to his two-year birthday. Does anyone know what brand or type of bed rail is best? And are there certain features that you would recommend? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Used Cribs? a Yes or No?

I am getting ready to shop for my first baby crib. I recently read the book "Baby Bargins" and they recommended NEVER getting a used crib. I know older cribs don't fall under the new safety regulations but what about cribs within the last few years? What have other moms heard or experienced?

Bumpers or No Bumpers

Hell all, My 3 month old daughter has been sleeping in her bouncy seat in the crib up until now. I think she is ready to finally give it up and go straight into the crib. The other night, I tried and twice she woke up screaming because she had rotated herself about 90 degrees and was at the foot of the crib with her head hitting the slats. I am torn whether to put the bumpers on the crib. All of the SIDS research strongly advises against it which is why I never had them on but I am nervous about her hitting her head. I also feel...

Blankets in Cribs

I have a 7 1/2 month old little boy and I was wondering when did you mommy's and daddy's start putting blankets in the crib with your little ones? I have noticed that my son stirs around a lot and will wake up a few times a night. Last night he went to bed at 7:30, woke up at 11 then again at 1:30 and then at 4. Usually I feed him when he wakes up. When he woke up at 4 I fed him and then he went right to sleep. Then I went and laid down. As soon as I laid down he started fussing again. I tried to let him cry it out but I dont want him...

Is a Wedge Necessary for Newborn?

Hi- my sister-in-law is expecting her first baby in August, and she asked me if she should get one of those sleeping wedges for her baby- that thing that's supposed to prevent the baby from rolling over onto his stomach. I have two little boys, aged 22 months and 3 months, and I didn't use the wedge for either of them. I was just wondering if this wedge is a good idea? I'm not sure if it's something I should have used or if it isn't necessary.

Swaddling, Pacifier and CIO

My daughter is 5 and a half months old and i was thinking of trying the Ferber CIO method with her soon. I still swaddle her as its the only way she'll fall asleep and she also won't fall asleep without a pacifier. So getting her down for the night is a piece of cake. I put her down between 8:30 and 9 but anywhere between 11:30 and 1 she wakes up looking for her pacifier. She wakes up almost every hour after that but usually goes back to sleep when i give her the pacifier. Then around 4:30 she seems totally awake and the only way to get her...

Moving from Co-sleeping to Big Boy Bed

My son is almost 2 1/2 and we have been co sleeping since birth since it was easier for me because he was breast fed. We have long past that stage and I continued to co sleep with him because I feel guilty and a bit selfish on my part since I work all day. Its our time for me to snuggle with him but he is now too big and is offically a bed hog. We have had a Big Boy Bed for a while now and the only time he uses it is as a trampoline. We have tried making it a big thing for him, tried to get him excited about it,even tried bribes, but...
