Infant with Gas

My 2 month old son has been suffering from long periods of excessive gas--especially in the evenings. It's severe enough that it keeps him from going to sleep and repeatedly wakes him (often partially, sometimes completely). It has interfered with nursing on a couple of occasions--he was "starving" (as all babies are when hungry ^_^), but had to disengage to pass gas so frequently that he couldn't nurse! The gas is obviously painful--he starts screaming as he feels it coming and really strains to pass it and sometimes screams even more...

Could It Be Acid Reflux?

My 1 month old has been very fussy the last couple of weeks, and I'm not sure whats wrong. He hardly naps during the day, but will sleep for 2-3 hours at a time during the night. It also seems like he's constantly hungry, so I nurse him every 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I know my milk supply is adequate. Usually halfway through a feeding he'll stiffen up and start to crying really hard, and then do the same after a feeding. This is my first baby, so I don't have much experience. We thought it might be gas, so we started giving him those gas drops. A...

One Month Old Baby & Bowel Movements

Hey Ladies, I actually have two questions. My first question is about my one month old daughter. Since she was born we had to change her formula from Enfamil to Enfamil Gentle and finally now to Good Start. She is VERY gassy and was having trouble with passsing stool. Since on Good Start she seems to be having regular bowel movements. My concern is though she cries almost everytime. I have to take off her diaper, wipe her & continously pump her legs. The stools are soft too! So I am at a loss. Had her to the ped already and...

Burping Help and Gas Relief for a 4Mo

Hi, I have a 4mo little girl who had a lot trouble with gas early on. I wasn't able to breastfeed, so started her on formula and had to try several until we found one she could tolerate (Nutramigen). She still had lots of gas, but we burped (endlessly!) and used Mylicon drops on occassion and she finally started getting better a little before 3mo. She seemed to have the burping down and no longer had any gas pains. This seems to have ended. Last week, when she started getting more distracted during feedings, she just wasn't...

Enfamil Gentlease for a Gassy Baby?

We currently use Enfamil Lipil for our one-month old and he seems to respond quite well to it. He does, however, seem to have quite a bit of gas. Has anyone tried the Enfamil Gentlease formula for gassy babies and would you recommend it?

Awful Spit Up

I have a 15 week old who is always spitting up. She is a happy spitter and gaining weight so my ped is not doing anything about it. She is only formula fed (but spit up breast milk before I stopped nursing) and takes 4-5 oz every 3 hours...she spits up the entire time she is not eating or sleeping....and I keep her still, burp, upright...She is my third baby and by far the easiest, but her and I are have to change our clothes many times during the day....any suggestions? THANK YOU!

Throw up or Spit Up?

I have a three month old who just started throwing up (spitting up) after he eats. I am wondering if this is a virus or if maybe it is reflux. How can you tell the difference between throw up and spit up? The stomach bug is going around at my husbands work so I am thinking it's that since it just started yesterday. He doesn't have a fever and he is taking 3-4 ounces every 2-3 hours. I have been giving him some pedialite too. but he throws some of it up every time. He really isn't too grouchy and he has plenty of wet diapers but no poop...
