Why Are You Still Breastfeeding?

**I'm not bashing either formula feeding or nursing just a discussion** Are you bottle or breastfeeding? I answer "breastfeeding" and I always get "Why!?" or "How are you still breastfeeding?" I only know a handful of mothers but all with the exception of my aunt (different generation) never nursed past 3 months. Same thing as women I meet or speak with in the baby aisles at the store. It really seems as if most women hate, can not, or will not breastfeed. But why? If you can breastfeed (no medical conditions) why then choose formula?...

Bottle for Newborn

Hi, I am currently 36 weeks pregnant and went shopping for necessary baby items. But going to the stores only add to my confusion. There are whole bunch of bottles out there. but which one is the best? I plan to breastfeed exclusivelybut still want to have a bottle around for the occasional bottle-feeding. So I am seeking recommendations for bottles which we are easy to switch to and fro from breast to bottle. Also I would like to know which ones are a complete no-no. The brands that I could find are playtex, avent, similac, tommy tippee...

19 Month Son Not Eating Enough to Gain Weight

My 19 month old son weighs 17.5 pounds, and has been back and forth to the doctor for over six months now regarding his weight/size. After blood, urine and stool tests the pediatrician said he was not sure why Corey is not gaining weight. He said that Corey weighs less than his fraternal twin (who has always weighed about 2 pounds more), and that's part of the concern. The dr sent us to a GI dr, and she has us giving him carnation instant breakfast three times day, plus try to give him breakfast, lunch and dinner plus two snacks. We have...

Bottle Feeding Problems

Any suggestions - My 6 month old is a very picky bottle feeder, he prefers me to feed him (breast feeding) and it has only gotten worse. Friday at daycare he only ate 1 ounce in 8 hours and today he didn't eat anything in 8 hours (it usually ends up being 12 hours total from the time I feed him before daycare & the time I get him home to feed him) he does eat cereal around noon & baby food around 6, but he still needs his milk. Daycare does have 3 different types/brands of bottles to try.

Name Brand Vs. Generic Formula

My daughter has been on Similac formula since the hospital. I continued to buy the Similac because that is what she started with. I've heard from others that the generic (Parent's Choice, Up and Up, etc.) are the exact same make-up of all the major formula brands at half the cost. What have been your experiences with name brand vs. generic?
