Any Mom's Still Breastfeeding Beyond Age 2?

Hi. My daughter recently turned 2, and is still breastfeeding. She's drinks cow's milk (mixed with breastmilk and alone as chocolate milk), but isn't that fond of it. Right now, she prefers to nurse. I think I read that most kids will self-wean around 2 1/2 to 3 years old. If you breastfed beyond age 2, did your toddler self wean and if so, when? Thanks

Alternative Treatment for Hives

Hello fellow mommies. My 11 month hold daughter has the hives. Her doctor said it's from something she ate, but we are not 100% sure of exactly what caused her to break out. The treatment recommended by her pediatrician is liquid Children's Benedryl. I gave her this for five days, which after the third day I noticed a decrease in the hives. I'm on day number five of drugging her up and she is still not completely rid of the hives. Now he's suggesting I switch her to liquid Zyrtec. Has any other mommy out there had positive results...

Schedule a Doctors Appointment?

My 10 month old recently got over an ear infection. As soon as he was over the infection he got croup (there was an incidence of it at daycare). I read up on it, and basically read that you have to wait it out, humidifiers or an open window on a warm night help so I waited it out. Now his cough is getting worse, he's got snot in his nose and he's not eating or drinking as much (about 1 or 2 bottles a day, and maybe half or a full jar of baby food a day) which is very unusual for him. I'm worried that he's not getting what he needs or that...

Pulmicort - Steroids for Asthma/Lung Issues

Do any of you have children who have taken Pulmicort or another steroid for asthma/lung issues. My son was born 3 months premature and therefore had immature lungs. In addition he had a chest tube for a pneumo-thorax and pneumonia all in the first two weeks of life, came home on oxygen, etc. This was all a year ago and he's doing incredible. Has been off of oxygen since April. All of that said, he is struggling with weather changes and the cold and flu season. A tiny cold leads to wheezing and bronchiolitis almost every time. My doc...

Transitioning from Formula to Whole Milk

Does anyone have any thoughts on buying Oberweis Milk or Horizon vs. a regular gallon of milk in the grocery store. Oberweis claims that it doesn't give steroids or growth hormones to their cows and, therefore, I was thinking to go this route. My father-in-law swears that the growth hormones given to cows is the reason why girls are maturing at a much younger age now. Any thoughts on this?
