Breastfeeding Longer than "Normal"

I was wondering if any mom has breastfeed longer than the "normal" time. I thought my daughter would ween herself (like my son did) but no such luck! I don't think it's hurting her, she eats everything we do. I think it is just for comfort (before bed)...Any thoughts? Thanks

What Bottles Are Best?

My husband and I are expecting our first child in a few weeks. I registered for the Phillips Avent bottles because I heard such greta things about them. Now, the more I look at reviews online I see that they are hard to use and leak. I also have heard great things about the Playtex bottles. (Back in the day my mother actually used them with me and loved them). All of my friends rave about them also. I am so confused and don't want to be 2nd guessing my choices already.

Breast Feeding Advice

Hello, I am currently breast feeding my daughter. We had a difficult time at first because I had a c-section and she would not latch. I had to use a nipple shield to finally get her to latch. I chose to use the nipple shield given to me by the lactation consultants over formula feeding longer. We have been feeding regularly w/o shield for over a month now. I have been having difficulty lately as my daughter arches at the end of feedings pulling my nipple with her. It is without warning and it hurts a lot. It makes my nipples very sore...

Suggestions on Getting My 3-Year Old to Drink Milk

Hi- I have a very willful 3-year old who loved his bottles and milk more than anything else. However, we took his bottles away about 8 months ago and he won't drink milk now. Does anyone have any recommendations on how I could get him to drink milk or any recommendations on suppliments? Your advice is appreciated.

I Have a 3 Year old...enough Said :)

OK, mainly I'm just venting, but of course would love any ideas, input, etc. from those who have or have had 3 year old boys. My biggest frustration is...why in the world does he have to be so difficult with me? The simplest of instruction from me becomes a big issue. "Honey, please come here so I can change your diaper"...."no" (and runs away). I am firm with him, I use positive discipline, rewards, consequences, time outs and anything else I have learned, but it just seems like EVERYTHING little thing is a battle. By noon I've had it. I...

3 Year Old Behavior...

Hello there...I am looking for new tricks to have up my sleeve when dealing with my 3 year old daughter. As of late she has taken to shrieeking when put on a time out. I also have not been able to get her to say "I'm sorry for _____" once she's out of her time out. She flat out refuses and walks away or says she "can't". She also has taken to talking or raising her voice over mine to repeat herself when told "no" in getting something. This she picked up from me due to my using it when she started repeating herself so say "noooooo" over her....

Off the Formula???

I have an 11-month old who is already past his stage 3 baby food and is onto eatng what we eat, (with some exceptions). He is almost completely off the bottle and onto the sippy cup but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to when I can take him off formula. He does not often get juice and when he does its diluted. He will give him a sippy cup with just water and he drinks it just like it were the formula. I do put a bottle of just water in his crib at night in case he wakes up and hes thirsty or if he wakes up before us (as...

When Does It Get Easier? 6 Week Old Baby and 4 Year Old and Little to No Sleep

I have a 6 week old baby and a 4 year old. The baby hasn't ever slept for more than a 3 hour stretch at a time (I breastfeed), and the last few nights has been sleeping for 3 hours, then is wide awake for the next 3 hours, which means I get maybe one more hour of sleep after that before my 4 year old wakes up. Baby does sleep on and off most of the day, but never long and doesnt matter cause I am taking care of my 4 year old anyways and can't 'sleep when baby sleeps' (stupid advice. whoever said that had an only child). My mom has been...

Weaning a 28 Month Old Who Does Not Want to Wean

I reluctantly began to wean my daughter in July, but have since given up. My husband and I are trying to coneive and I am now 40. We started trying in April and it seems to me that ending breastfeeding is the logical next step towards increased fertility and I've been told this by many others. I've had my FSH level tested in August and it came back quite high, so that was good news, but I am still not pregnant. I couldn't find much information on weaning an older child through library books. From what I've been able to find it seems...
