7 Week Old Miserable, Not Tolerating Formula... Any Thoughts?

My baby is almost 8 weeks old, she was born 5 weeks early. She is formula fed (I was unable to breastfeed). Started on similac, then went to similac sensitive because she was so grunty and gassy all the time. this past week she has been very cranky, crying almost all the time that she's awake:(. and she's spitting up more, the chunky throw up kind. she's sleeping a real lot and that worries me too, but at least she's not miserable in her sleep. yesterday the dr switched her to alimentun. now she's throwing up even more, but its clearer...

Help! Screaming Baby! What to Eat When Nursing?

I'm dyin' here! My six-week-old is on Zantac for reflux, but she still cries...and cries and cries. For up to an hour and a half (usually right after I feed her.) I'm nursing exclusively - no formula. I give her Mylicon for gas, Maalox for indigestion. Nothing seems to be working. I can hear her little tummy creaking and groaning and can actually feel it when I'm holding her. I'm afraid to let her "cry it out" in her crib because it seems to hurt her worse when she's lying flat. People have told me what not to eat while I'm...

Pain Medication for Arthritis? (Dogs)

My dog is a 10 yr old collie mix (we think). He is a bit overweight. Supposed to be 50-55 lbs, is actually more like 60-65 lbs. He was recently (Nov 2007) diagnosed w arthritis and prescribed Glucosamine w Chondritin and also 50 mg Deramaxx (deracoxib) for the pain. He was having trouble walking up/down stairs. We saw an initial improvement but then he started to get worse again, so I moved him to level 2 of the Glucosamine/Chondritin. He showed no improvement on the higher dose. We then ran out of the Deramaxx. Naturally he became crankier...

Newborns and Feeding Schedule

My daughter is seven weeks coming up and I am trying to figure out how to put her on a feeding schedule. She is formula-fed and has a milk-protein allergy so she is on Alimentum. Julia has been having crying fits sometimes during the day but usually between 5 and 7 in the evening. I don't think she is colic but wondered. She is very gassy and without testing the pediatrician noticed she had reflux. I'm also wondering if she could be allergic to corn solids as I found out the powdered formula has it and the liquid does not. This past...

Need Advice on "Fussy" Feeding...

I have a 3 weeks old son. Lately he has been extremly fussy during feedings. I am breastfeeding him. I know I am producing enough milk. I pumped today and bottle feed him and he was satisfied with the amount...still fussy during the feeding though. He has also been extremly gassy too. It's to the point it can take me up to 2 hours after feedings to get him settled and then I have to start all over again. I have started to give him mylicon drops with each feeding and they help with him burping but don't seem to do any more than that. ...

Seeking Some Advice About How Much Formula I Should Be Feeding My Five Month Old

I am having an issue with getting my five month old to eat her bottles. She was only eating about 20 oz, so i went to the doc's and asked them how much she should be eating and he told me that she should be closer to 30-32 oz a day. I told him that sometimes she will just scream her head off when i would try to feed her but i would just have to force her to eat because i was just so worried about her not getting enough. He then told me it sounds like she has acid reflux and they put her on zantac. So I have been giving her that for...

If I'm Sick Can I Get Baby Sick??

I woke up this morning with a terrible sore throat. It hurts to swallow and talk. I dont have a fever or anything but I'm deathly afraid of getting my 5 mo old sick! Am I allowed to take antibiotics if I'm breastfeeding? I have a dr appt at 3 but until then I'm afraid to get too close to my baby. He seems sad that I'm not interacting with him much today but I'm not sure what might get him sick. :(
