Help-my 8 Year Old Is Very Picky About Her Food.

I have an 8 year old that is very picky about food. She either wants something different from what i've made and if not, she won't eat. I can't get her to eat veggies or healthy food. It all started one day that we were at my in laws house, and she almost vomited, ever since then, she is always saying that if she tries something new she's going to throw up. I've tried telling her to try something first, before saying she doesn't like it, I've tried the mother and daughter cook day, where we make somthing together, i've tried to hide the...

Allergist V/s Pediatritian

Hello moms, my son's pediatrician has prescribed us Nasacort nose spray then Claritin, Benadryl, Singulair, none seem to work for him. I'm wondering if I should take him to an Allergist. Will an allergy doctor really do anything more for him? I went through all the allergy tests myself, went for allergy shots for a while, but they didn't really help me. Is it worth putting a 4-1/2 year old through all the testing? Will an allergist to more then the pediatritian?

7 Year Old - Burns When She Urinates

My 7 year old daughter has been complaining of burning when she urinates. I took her to a doctor(not her pediatrician) about 2 weeks ago. They did a urine test but everything came back normal. She put her on Amoxicillan anyway for 5 days. She is still complaining. I am trying to decide if I need to take her to her pediatrician?

My 4 Year Old Has Dust Allergy! Any Advice???

My 4 year old was just diagnosed with being allergic to dust, weeds, cats, and dogs. Thankfully, we have no pets and I can deal with the weeds pollinating from June-October, but the dust one is hard! Besides having to dust and vacuum all the time, does anyone have any other helpful tips? I know she will NOT give up her Webkinz or other stuffed animals, so I was going to wash those. Has anyone purchased an air filter, and if so, what's a good one? Any advice would be helpful. I'm a mom of 3, so thoroughly cleaning my house is already a...

My Little Boy Is Allergic to Eggs.

Hello, I have a two year old son who is allergic to eggs and we found that out when he was a little over a year old with a skin allergy test. We never give him anything that has egg in it. I was wondering if there was other mom's out there who's children are allergic to eggs or any other kind of foods and if they have out grown it? I just want to know if my son will ever out grow this allergy. Thanks!

Nightmares Related to Allergy Medicine

Has anyone experienced a child with weird dreams or nightmares while taking allergy medicine? My two year old has been on Zertec for allergies to cedar for about a week and was up all night with inconsolable nightmares. It was very out of character for him and I was quite distressed. My sister says that her 6 year old had "weird dreams" the very first time she took Zertec. I was just wondering if this was common?

Allergic to Dairy

My one year old is allergic to dairy. This was easy when he was on formula and baby food because I didn't really worry about. Now I am feeding him Rice Milk but I am having a hard time with snacks and table food. Most of what I make for my family has milk or cheese or some other dairy product in it. He will not eat any fruit. So that is out as far as snacks go. Also, the doctor said to go with the rice milk but why not soy? Does soy milk contain dairy or what is the issue with that? I know I should have spoke with the doctor...

Our Daughter Is Allergic to Our Cats - Now What?

Our 6 year old daughter was recently tested for allergies. She is allergic to our 2 cats as well as dogs, ragweed, mold and grass. We have had these cats since before she was born. She basically has a stuffy nose with slight "allergy shiners" as her allergist called them. No asthma or any other breathing problems were detected and she's had only a couple sinus infections in her life. Naturally, our daughter's health is our #1 priority. We're looking into Hepa filters, air purifiers, allergen sprays, etc. We're keeping the cats out...

Seasonal Allergies and Allergy to Fish

My son is 14 months old and has been diagnosed with a severe egg and peanut allergy, and mild allergy to soy and wheat. We are quite careful about the foods we give him, mostly things he's had previously to avoid reactions. Last night, we gave him salmon for the first time and he had a serious reaction. He's had plenty of flounder/cod/white fish over the last 7 months so I didn't expect him to have a problem with any kind of fish. Has anyone heard of someone being allergic to one kind but not the other? Also, he's had a runny nose...

Allergic to Gluten

My allergy test from a blood sample finally came in . . . as suspected, I am allergic to gluten (had high level of antibodies). I read about the different levels of gluten allergy: sensitive, intolerant and celiac disease. I do not know where I stand on that gradient and am not scheduled to have more testing done. What I wonder about is to what level should I be careful about not eating gluten? For now, I plan on removing all sources of wheat, rye and barley from my diet, but what about oat? Also, should I really stop eating none...

Help, My Son Won't Take His Medicine!

Ben, 2 1/2, is on antibiotics for a possible staph infection on his cheek (again). I'm having the hardest time getting him to take his medicine. He wont take it willingly, he will just spit it out. I have to have him take it, else he will end up in the hospital like last year for 5 days on IV antibiotics. I've tried bribing him with lots of different candy, but he still wont take it. I've tried mixing it with applejuice, but he still tastes it and wont drink it. I've tried doing it very slowly while he is sleeping, but he will just...
