Mamapedia Contributor Spotlight: Stacey Skrysak

After suffering the loss of two of her three triplets, news anchor Stacey Skrysak took to the blogosphere to find joy and celebrate the life of her surviving daughter Peyton. Through her blog Perfectly Peyton, Skrysak shares the excitement and challenges that come with raising a three-year-old and offers helpful tips and insight for grieving parents.

What made you want to start your own parenting blog?

My children. I went through a tragic experience that was very public, since I’m a television news anchor. After losing two of my triplets within two months of birth, I knew I could help others by being a voice for child loss, premature birth and infertility. Perfectly Peyton is named after our surviving triplet, Peyton, who has overcome so many obstacles in her short 3 1/2 years of life.

What 3 words would you use to describe your blog?

Inspirational, honest, heartfelt.

What’s your go-to tip for balancing blogging with parenthood?

Forget sleeping! Between a full-time job, being a parent and blogging, I find that I do my best work late at night when everyone is asleep in my house.

What is the best piece of parenting advice you’ve ever received?

There is no need to be perfect. Parenting is all about learning and adapting as you go.

What’s a typical day like for you?

I spend the mornings with my daughter, shuttling her off to school and gymnastics, before heading into my job at our local ABC affiliate in Springfield, IL. I anchor the 5 & 6 pm newscasts, then race off to home for dinner with my family. I’m back at work to anchor the 10pm news, then back home to blog and write articles for various websites. I do my best work late at night.

What’s the best insight you can offer other parenting bloggers?

Speak from your heart. The more honest you are, the more your words will resonate with others.
