Your Favorite Tv Show

Since Thanksgiving, when most of my regular shows took a break, I have been bored in the evenings after my son is in bed. I normally stay up an hour or two after he goes to bed, relaxing watching tv and sometimes on mamapedia. I normally watch my shows that I can't watch while he's awake (Fringe, Grey's Anatomy, America's Next Top Model). I also catch up on Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, the Office, Parenthood, and Raising Hope (my favorite). By the way - I don't have regular tv. I just watch via hulu or netflix. So last night I watched Fear Factor, which is back on from a long hiatus I guess. It was good, but won't see another episode for another week. What new show can I start watching tonight that y'all love? (I don't have hulu plus, so can't start with season 1 of most shows). Let me know what shows you love and I'll research on netflix and hulu to see if I can watch them starting with season 1. If your husband likes the show, the better, as I need shows that my hubs will tolerate too (He likes Fringe. He liked Fear Factor - although he mostly made fun of the contestants. He likes the Office and Raising Hope and How I Met Yr Mother). Thanks in advance. In a week or two I'll likely post a SWH after viewing a couple of y'all's recommendations.

@Once Upon a Time: There are 7 episodes on hulu and it allows me to watch all 7 w/o paying for 'huluplus'. Will try one this week.
@ The Middle: Only 4 newest episodes are avail on hulu. I have seen the show before. Perhaps something to start watching, although we've missed the first two seasons fully ...... so Maybe.
@Person of Interest: Looks like one husband may like. Sadly, not all episodes are avail on hulu. Is it the type of show that you miss something from week to week? Or do most episodes kind of stand on their own? Hulu has episodes 1, 3, 4, 6, 9, and 10.
@House: we stopped watching it a few years ago. Got bored with the same ol thing.
@The Good Wife: I can only watch a few episodes from season 3. That's too late to start watching it right? To have missed 2 seasons?
@New Girl - I watch this one. Forgot. YAY it's goofy but makes me laugh a little.
@ Grimm: On Hulu, I can watch the whole first season, not missing an episode. But is it scary? Looks scary.
@ 2 broke girls - I watch this one too. It's kinda dorky too, but something to watch.

What can I do next?

I have a bunch of shows on Netflix that I'm planning to stream, mostly old favorites like Charmed & Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I saw Season 1 of The Walking Dead and love it. Very gory so if you can't stomach it don't watch it.

I'm not a huge TV person, but am completely addicted to the ABC series "Once Upon a Time". It's this crazy spin on the fairy tales. I am hooked and so is my husband! They have past episodes on their website, so it's definitely worth looking at the first one and seeing what you think!

My absolute favorite is HBO's "Game of Thrones." Season 1 is playing re-runs right now, and season 2 begins in April

We also watch "Spartacus" on Starz, which has had 1 season & a very-closey intertwined short season that went in and filled in the backstory of season 1. Season 2 begins Jan 27th. (We only subscribe to 1 movie channel at a time, so it is nice that these series don't overlap, as once "Spartacus'" season is done, I will cancel Starz and resume my HBO subscription.

On regular cable:
FX - "American Horror Story" - Season 1 just finished

HGTV - "Property Brothers" - 2 brothers, a realtor & a contractor help Canadian couples locate & renovate homes to become their dream home
HGTV - "Income Property" - a VERY hot contractor named Scott helps Canadian couples convert portions of their homes into an apartment--or to renovate an existing apartment

NBC - Just started watching a few episodes of "Up all Night" - I am liking it.
"Jimmy Fallon" - his latenight show that a comes on after Leno.

ABC - Since I've already given so many years of my Thursday nights to "Grey's Anatomy," I will continue watching it until it ends--which, based on how convoluted the script has become has GOTTA be pretty soon
Sometimes I watch "Private Practice," if I dont have much to do that night.

Bravo - I watch all the Housewives shows (trashy, I know); "Tabitha's Salon Takeover," "The Rachel Zoe Project" and probably a few other programs

TLC - "All American Muslim"
"Sister Wives" - mostly because the concept of more than 1 woman WANTING to marry my husband fascinates me :-) J/K, my hubby is a gem :)
"My Big, Fat Gypsy Wedding" - never knew that this culture persisted in modern times--kinda creeps me out
"19 Kids and Counting" - when I am feeling overwhelmed, I like to watch it see how Zen Michelle Duggar is & how she keeps things in perspective
"Geek Love" - my hubby and I watched an episode last week and it was amusing--kinda like "Beauty and the Geek," but it is not a competition and both the girl and guy are geeks

Wow--I just realized I watch a LOT of tv!

I like most of the shows mentioned but hate to miss Castle and Burn Notice. There are probably a few more but I can't think of them right now OH The Good Wife. My husband watches more TV than I do and a lot of times I watch it and knit so we can be together. Thinking of taking some time to read though as I really miss that.

You could watch the 1st episode of Person of Interest and then start watching the episodes listed. There haven't been that many in their "season". I also think you could watch The Good Wife Season 3 on. There might be a little backstory you would be slightly confused on but I think you would get it.

I don't watch much TV, but I love American Horror Story and so does my husband. It's new this season, so you probably can't watch it yet. Definitely keep it in mind for later, though. It's fantastic!

We also love Men of a Certain Age. It's on a mid-season break right now, but you can probably find episodes.

Another one that I like that surprised me is The Walking Dead. I hate most things related to zombies, but this show is surprisingly well-written and well-acted. It's on a mid-season break right now, too, but it's really good. I bet you can find the first season.

The only other show I watch is Parenthood (love it!), and you already watch it. :)

Oh, I forgot - we do love Modern Family, too, just like many other ladies here. It is hilarious!!

Person of Interest (just need to know the premise, most of it is not a continuing story)

Ok, first of all it's worth if for Hulu Plus we only pay 7.99 for Hulu, 7.99 for netflix and 52.65 for internet! LOVE IT! I LOVE Once Upon a Time, just got done watching all 4 seasons of Ugly Betty again, Jess is great!, Up All Night was ok but it lost me a few episodes in. The hard part is that I don't know what is no Hulu Plus and what is - Ohhh Terra Nova too!

Hawaii Five O (the new version), NCIS, NCIS LA, The Good Wife and Big Bang Theory are my favorites. All of these stand alone but there is an ongoing plot on HFO involving McGarrett but it's not critical to the weekly events. I also like Person of Interest. You can mostly watch each episode on it's own although I recommend watching the first episode of to get a background on the main characters.

So far as new ... I love 2 broke girls and Person of Interest. Prime Suspect is actually much better than I expected it to be. I count days until Hot in Cleveland. It's too funny. I'm really enjoying Once Upon a Time and Raising Hope. Of course My Colbert and Jon Stewart.

I try not to watch 1st season shows. I get invested in the characters and they dont get picked up for a 2nd season. I miss Happily Divorced. It was funny.

You know what show is on my last nerve??? New 2 and Half Men. Not funny. I'm over the hot dumb guy routine. It dissapoints me because he was so good in Butterfly Effect and he's not just hot and dumb. They've made him the straight guy and given the comedic weight to the dorky mooch and his flatulent son. So Not Funny.

I'm currently watching Fortysomething on Netflix. It is British.

My husband and I like Bones (but I think it is about time for the show to end, getting a little blah), Big Bang Theory (he has a friend who is Sheldon-esq), Dexter, Breaking Bad.

I like to watch the documentaries on Netflix. The most recent one I watched was A Day in the Life. I also like to watch the historically based things. I just finished The Tudors but they played fast and loose with the historical accuracy and had a lot of sex scenes.

My all time favorite is the Big Bang Theory with Modern Family a close second. When America's Got Talent is on I like to watch that as well.

Otherwise the TV is background noise the rest of the week, unless of course I am watching DVD episodes of the first four seasons of the Big Bang Theory ad naseum. Lucky for my husband he typically controls the remote :-)

Could you borrow the early seasons of some of the shows from the library?

My favorite shows are Charmed (surprisingly my guy best friend likes it) and My Fair Wedding with David Tutera. I also like Deadliest Catch, Ghost Hunters International, America's Funniest Videos, America's Got Talent, Dexter, Numb3rs, The Mentalist, NCIS, Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, How Stuff Works, Modern Marvels, Man vs. Wild, and 1000 Ways to Die (don't know why). I watch House Hunters and House Hunters International with my mom and JAG and the Military Channel with Dad. Dad got the Andy Griffith song stuck in my head, to the point that I can whistle the whole thing, because we watch The Andy Griffith Show. I also like I Love Lucy, The Addams Family, The Beverly Hillbillies, and The Brady Bunch. I've watched a bit of The Office and Bridezillas. I also like Cake Boss and pretty much anything involving cake. I spent a lot of the first half of this year watching WETV. I also like The Young and the Restless.

I'm super into Sherlock right now. There are only 3 episodes in season 1 (season 2 starts in January on the BBC). They're on Netflix and an hour and a half each.

Firefly is one of my all time favorites. There are only about 13 episodes and a movie, but it is really well done. It's a space western starring Nathan Fillion. You should be able to watch it all on Netflix.

I love Community, but I'm not sure how much you'd be able to watch online. I think Netflix only lets you get the disks, not watch streaming.
