Yellow Liquid Poops

Hi,
I am exclusively breast feeding my 3 month old daughter. She is my second child. For some reason, instead of having a mustard seed solid type bowel movement, she has these yellow liquid poops. It is not diareha (sp?). Has this every happened to anyone and anyone know what is going on? This has been happening for about a week now. She isn't acting sick.

Any reassurance would be great.
L.

So What Happened?

Thanks for the responses. My pediatrician said that was normal and not to worry.

It sounds like a totally normal breastfed baby poop. My daughter had the same thing, although it wasn't quite a liquid (more like a loose mashed potato consistency.) I wouldn't worry.

Hi L.,
I breastfeed both of my girls, and neither of them had any solid poops around that time. Yellow liquid poops were the norm for both of them, depending on what I ate. Sometimes they had mustard-seedy looking poops, but even those were not solid. Check with your doc if you are worried, but it sound normal to me.
Good luck,
A.

Both of my boys have had the yellow liquid poop. they weren't sick or anything. You may want to double check your diet and make sure your not eating anything too spicy that might irritate their stomach. I wouldn't worry about it. It will probably transition to the mustard seed pretty sonn.

The same thing happened with me. My first child had the mustard seed poop and the second time my son had yellow liquidy poop. I went to the doctor about it and he said that he was perfectly fine, as long as you're completely breastfeeding!!
Have no worries,
R.

Breastfeed babies don't usually get Diarrhea. What are you eating? Too much heavy food like corn or flour would upset my babies stomach. Too much caffine. I think it's okay but if you are worried go to the doctor next week. I always use this as a rule of thumb- are the acting any different, are they happy and are the eating well... if you answer yes to all then I won't worry.
Hope this helps,
L.

I nursed both of my kids for the 1st year of their lives, and they both had the yellow liquid poop as well as the mustard seed type BM's. For a while my daughter didn't go at all and then when she did it was liquid like, and her pediatrician told me that she was using everything she nursed from me and therefore there was no waste. Not sure if this could possibly be what's going on with your baby. Babies who are nursed just have such different BM's, but I would not be too concerned personally. I'm sure it's just from the breast milk, and nothing to cause concern, but if you continue to worry about it I'd call her pediatrician for reassurance.

I wouldn't worry if I were you. My son was the same way up until the point I started to supplement with formula. Breastmilk is a natural laxative and it makes it easier for your daughter to go. Breastfed babies tend to have looser, more yellow-colored stools than formula fed babies. Hope this helps!

Sounds just like my daughter's poop. She is also exclusively breast fed and until recently(we started baby food) that was what her poop looked like. Just keep on eye on her skin and eye color and her behavior, because you want to make sure she has not developed jaundice.
