Okay Mama's We have all been there or will be at one time or another in our lives, wanting to work from home is a posted question we come across weekly. Name some ideas that you have, heard of or are currently doing as a work from home mom. List somethings that you wish you could hire or you have hired someone to do for you, If you have or had a cleaning person what is somehing out of the box that she has done for you. this post is all about ideas! ideas! ideas!
I am sure that is what we are looking for when we ask the what exactly are you doing as far as working from home question. We know of all the companies that are out there but what are some of the out of the crafty, out of the box ideas? If you have a business can you share how you got started? I know some might have a fear of sharing due to competition but when you bless someone the blessings flow back around to you and you never know you may obtain a customer in some way or another.

I will start the list and i hope that we can continue to add to it:

1. Start a transportation service that will pick up children before and after school. Anyone out there has a service? How did you get started?

2. Senior day care. A co-worker once was looking for someone to watch her mom durning the day hours.

3. One of our mama's has a business selling hand painted wine glasses! ( i think that is awesome because i collect them)

4.I know of a young man who would come into the home and help to create organized zones, all because he was good at keeping things organized in his home, and he also started a cleaners pick up service!!!!! that's a good one! Right!!!????

5.I would like to open a shoe store...Can soemone share how they got started and how they went about finding the buyers?

What can I do next?

I just put an ad up yesterday on Craigslist to do peoples laundry in my home. Free pick up and delivery within 2 miles of my home... Ill let you know how it goes. I also have an ad up to babysit in my home. I have a 15 month old and stay home anyways. Might as well get paid for it :)

***Don't give your credit card or checking information to someone for a $1 business kit. They will keep billing you the $70 minimum and fight you.

1. You must buy special insurance for this. Your auto or homeowners won't pay IF you are an employee or have an employee.

2. Pays well if you can get bonded(background, credit check, no one with negative background sharing your address).
3.Two new glass-etching businesses just started. They even go to higher end homes with "pantry doors" and etch the homeowner's name on.
4.Doubt anyone will pay and it is not like on tv.
5.You can not buy in bulk like chain stores, zappos.com, etc...
How people here get started is they contact the local small business administration and also local colleges to see if they have a training program for people wanting to start a business. There are sometimes grants to help people who complete the course.

Ok my kids are 10, 8 and 6 and when they were little I wish I had hired a mothers helper. Now I could use some help with housekeeping, not a huge job just someone to help me pick up so things don't get to a disaster area. Very good question I will keep thinking bout this. :)

As for starting a business, I would love to but I don't want a day care and I have no clue what I can do that would make money.

Well I was hoping to hear more answers. Great question to post.

I would love to hire someone to weed my flower beds/veg garden. Last summer we hired a babysitter to watch the kids while my husband and I did gardening work, but it'd be nice to just hire someone to help weed it when it gets out of hand.

I'm also a Mary Kay Consultant. I've put it on hold right now for personal reasons (still do re-orders, just not parties). I really look forward to getting back into it one day though. The environment was wonderful and it was just very fullfilling and uplifting.

Good luck, I look forward to reading more post. Not sure about the shoe thing. There are so many shoe stores around, might be a tough option.

I teach classes and mentor people to them learn how to loose fat, keep it off and improve their health in the process. Transitions Lifestyle System. It works utilizing the glycemic index without the requirement of purchasing meals. There is nothing like the feeling I get when someone tells me "thank you for giving me my life back"!

I would love to hire an organizer! Some people are gifted in organizing and decluttering and I am NOT one of those people! :)

I teach piano lessons in my home. Even people without music backgrounds can teach a Kindermusik class. There are training seminars that people can take to become certified. Even though I have musical training, I am thinking about becoming a Kindermusik instructor.

I LOVE the senior daytime care. Being a personal care assistant is a very valuable job for caring individuals.

This is going to sound funny, but if I lived in a metro area, I would LOVE to be a dog walker! Not because I love dogs, but it's like being paid to excercise! Haha!

Another thing that would be valuable is a personal chef/ instructor that specializes in special diets, such as gluten, dairy, grain and soy free. Starting on a restricted diet is overwhelming for some people and a personal chef would help with the transition.

Great question! I wish I had the answer to your shoe store question! I wish you the best!

I currently do guided in home wine tasting and market the wines as an independent consultant with Wine Shop at Home. There is one thing that I have thought about starting is a business where i do shopping for people unable to do it themselves. This would mostly be groceries and a few other types of things. I would have no idea what to charge for something like that. I also sell Discovery Toys and Usborne Books and More, but mostly because I have 2 young children with special needs and the products are awesome for them.
Great topic to post about, thank you
