I currently work full time but have been thinking about quitting to stay at home with my 14 month old. I would like to make a little money but am not interested in the home parties. Does anyone have any suggestions or have been in the same boat?

What can I do next?

Hi A.,

I just noticed your post and if you are still looking... I decided to go with a "Home business opportunity". I market discount health benefits by passing out flyers, posting on the net, etc. The company pays daily, residually and I get benefits for me and my family. Because of the nature of the business you don't have to quit your current job until you feel that you have supplemented your income enough... It really is one of those "golden" opportunities that changed my life. If you are interested - go to www.mybenefitsplus.com/tpasquale to find out more about what we do and how we get paid. Good luck to you!! - Tiffany

A.,

I have been a rep with Discovery Toys for 12 years. We offer educational, developmentally appropriate, and safe products.

I am not a salesperson and don't feel that I am pushing myself or my products on people. I offer a fun night out for hostesses to earn free product AND get together with their friends and family (something that is hard to do these days). Check out my website at

Let me know what questions I can answer for you and let's get together and talk. I live in Swissvale.

Anne, I used to say the same thing as you, hate the idea of 'Home Parties'. I don't like the idea of trying to push a high priced item on someone when I know they can buy it cheaper somewhere else. I have been selling Pure Romance products for 6 years now and I can honestly tell you that I do not feel as though I sell anything but a fun night away from husband and kids :) You make an average of $200 a night, you don't have to deal with the office politics of a real job and you don't need anyones permission to take a day off for your kids. If you want more info, just go to www.yourpartybiz.com I can answer any of your questions.

I work from home - recently started a great business - selling discounted health care, dental, chiropractic, vision

1st - to become Independent Business Owner - on your time - only $20 to start and $300 in gas cards until 7/31 - you get more than $20 in marketing products to get you started plus $50 in g.c. for more, 5 websites and $2,500 death and dismemberment coverage - for $50/month they give you dental plus for household - dental, chiro, vision and prescription - discounts all care for you - best parts - your dental plus is part of business now and totally tax deductible -I love that! also, business sellable and willable - so if you build up and get out - sell - if you stay forever you will continued income to kids - I love that too! 16 y.o. company is very legit and you're selling what people need during crappy economy and health care crisis in nation (not some crazy $3,000 time share people don't need and can't really afford) - all very affordable!

2nd - if you need it I can sign you as member - price depends on what you need but from $14.94 to $59.95/month for household (last one also includes auto club, identity theft assistance and legal)- starts day you join - can have existing issue - will even discount things like braces, crowns, ...

let me know if you have any interest - and if you join/become IBO and send me someone else who does also - I'll send $300 for you and $300 for hubby for gas

person who you refer also gets $300 gas cards

What is your current job? Perhaps some of your skills could be used to do work from home for your current employer or a local company - medical transcription, bookkeeping, pr. Do you know anyone who owns their own small business that might need extra help?

I once saw some information about being a call center operator from your home. You wouldn't have to make calls but rather receive calls from people wanting to make purchases from programs on tv or radio during predermined hours. I want to say this might have been featured on Oprah, but I don't remember for certain.

I've also seen advertised virtual secretary services which allow people to work from home typing documents, answering calls, scheduling meetings and trips, etc.

A friend of mine had done mystery shopping in college for some extra money. She loved it. It does require you to leave the house but she had flexibility in choosing the types of places to "shop" at, the days, and how many "shops" to do.

What if you did a business that you could do on a one on one sales basis instead of home parties? I rep for a company called Private Quarters - we sell luxury bed & bath linens. I'm here in Pittsburgh too and there are only a handful of consultants in this area. Last week I did 3 one on one appts. instead of home parties and I sold almost $1600.00. It's a great way to make extra money and at 2 of the appt's I was only there for 30 minutes. The great thing about direct sales is it's your business and you can work it anyway you'd like. Here's my website...excuse the HUGE pic of me - they updated the company website and my pic disappeared completely - when I reloaded it this weekend I did something wrong and now headquarters has to fix it! Other than the pic everything is up and running smoothly. The products are fantastic and really sell themselves. We've been mentioned on Good Morning America, and have been in Oprah magazine. I started just this past September and I can honestly tell you - I am making money! There are no other direct sales companies offering bedding so the market is WIDE open. I'd love to talk to you more about it - if you look over the website and find it's something you'd like to consider, please contact me.
