Working at Home

I am a single mom and I'm having a really hard time making ends meet. The job I currently have requires overtime so I don't have much time for a 2nd conventional job. I need to find a way to work from home after my little one goes to sleep or just something with a very flexible schedule! Has anyone tried anything that worked and wasn't a crazy scam? I'm not trying to get rich, just make around $200-500 extra a month to stay a float.

What can I do next?

Can you get a sitter for evenings or weekends? You can try a direct sales company. There are soooo many reputable ones out there and you can set your own hours for when you'll do parties. If you sign up with a company that you "believe in" the product, it will be easy to "sell" even if you don't consider yourself a salesman because all you have to do is show the products and talk about them from the heart. I'm talking about companies like Pampered Chef, Tupperware, etc. I sell Discovery Toys and will be happy to give you basic tips, even if you go with a different company. I made a bunch of extra money to help pay for xmas presents, and now I'm making money on the side to help support my toy buying addiction (haha!) ~Tammi

By the way-- the way you can tell if a company is a scam is if they ask for a bunch of money up front and you don't get anything for it. Most of the reputable direct sales companies have a fee to get started, but you get a bunch of samples of the product and business tools like order forms and catalogs. Also, beware of a company that ONLY wants you to invest money and then recruit other people who are also investing money while no one is actually selling any products-- that is a pyramid scheme

Hi A.,
Several years ago I started working from home for a company called Willow. They changed the name to Arise, but it is still a great company to work with. They train and manage hundrends of independent workers and clients. You take basic training on their systems and expectations - you have to have a decent computer, a separate phone line, and some technical know how. But you can work for great companies like Carnivel, Disney, Apple, Staples, AAA... the list goes on and on. You get trained for the client's specific programs. Most clients you are taking incoming calls (you don't make any cold calls) and take orders, solve customer service problems, and assist people.

They can be found at www.Arise.com From there you can learn more about working from home.

You set your own schedule - in 30 minute slots - and usually are required to work about 10-20 hours per week but could work much more. Lots of people have more than one client they work for -- and many have Arise as their only employer.

I, personally, work for Apple - and put in from 20 to 35 hour per week -- I can make up to $400 per week just doing part time. It really works.

Good luck!
