Work from Home, Does It Really Work?

We are having financial stress, as is everyone I am sure. We moved here with half the pay, our savings is low and it's making us nervous. I am looking for something I can do from home for obvious reasons. Three kids explains it all. Does anyone have any suggestions? Do you have experience with the work from home field? My husband's schedule is really weird. His weekend is Wed and Thur making a second job rather difficult. His hours throughout the week are different every day and he is in a very stressful job. I don't want him to feel stressed even more by taking a second job.
I feel like I need to contribute in some way. I would love to hear ideas. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

What can I do next?

I'm not sure of any "true", "legit" work-from-home businesses (the kind we would like to have). I've done lots of searching myself. But, I am a consultant for lia sophia (jewelry). The profits are great and the hostess benefits are unbeatable. The simple explanation is you do home parties - work when you want. I too live in Farmington and would love to share this experience with you if you're at all interested. It's VERY easy "work" and the additional income is great. Meet new people, socialize with friends, and make money! www.liasophia.com/npadelford

All the work from home businesses such as Tupperware, Avon, Lia Sophia, etc...take a lot of time and effort in order to make a good income. Most of the businesses also mean a few evenings/weekends away from home to throw parties. It's not as "easy" as a lot of consultants make it sound! I'm not sure how much money you want to make to help with your family's finances, but if you are willing to make a dedicated effort, it CAN be done! I am an independant consultant for a company called Heritage Makers. We are a digital storybooking and digital scrapbooking company. I'll be honest, we are set up similar to the other home-based party companies. The one reason I chose to be a consultant for HM vs other home party companies is that I've seen HM change people's lives! It's a wonderful company with tons of support! WITH EFFORT you can make a legitimate income! It's a newer company (just celebrated it's 2yr anniversary) that is rapidly expanding and there's only room to move up in the company! The market right now is NOT overly flooded with consultants. Again, let me remind you that home-party companies take effort. Don't let anyone tell you different! If you are interested in joining one, compare companies--look at their commissions, what the overhead is that you have to have on-hand, start-up fees, is the company just a fad that will be gone in a few years, what are people really spending their money on these days, how much support you get from your upline and home office, etc....do your research! Don't just hop on a company because people say it's fun and easy! What ever company you choose, good luck! I hope you check out Heritage Makers too--it passed all of my questions/doubts with flying colors! http://www.frommemoriestobooks.com
You may also want to consider doing daycare out of your home for a few chilren to help supplement your husband's income! My sister did daycare for a little while and had enough income for their family to have some "play" money.

Sorry this is a super late response...

I have tried the home based business thing and find for me personally i dont have the time or make the effort to put into it. It is very hard making phone calls when the kids are around--thats when they need you the most it seems (mine dont take naps anymore though either)
Have you ever looked into working at a daycare center. Then you get to bring your kids to work with you. Also, I got a job at Lifetime Fitness. Yeah the pay isnt great, but something is better than nothing. There are a lot of positions where you can either work in the daycare for a few hours and be with your kids. Or work in another dept and your kids are onsite. (I know every location differs with how long you can leave your kids in childcare without you being in there.)Just a couple of ideas--hope it helps.

My suggestion is not a company, but it may be a way you can make some extra money to help your family.

Sell your childrn's used clothing on Ebay. I do it all the time. I also sell other items around our house that we no longer use. It helps avoid collecting too much junk. It is easier getting rid of things because someone else will be able to use them.
