Wooden Swing Sets

I am wondering if anyone has a wooden swingset that they recommend. I have been researching reviews for several weeks now and have narrowed it down (and I will keep to what a secret). We are not in the market for "Rainbow" as they are just too high at this point. I do want something sturdy to last a while. My husband and fil are both handy so could put together a kit or follow plans.

I saw the request on the metal swing set and a few recommendations. Just trying to get more specifics on likes vs dislikes with any purchases!
Thanks!!

What can I do next?

My husband made our sons from scratch. Getting a name brand you are just buying the name.
You said your husband is handy, just get the plans on line or buy a book that tells you how-to. All the materials and accessories are available at Menards and are probably available at Home Deport and Lowes. You can also by the kits right at Menards with all the components and materials included. My husband is very thrifty and decided to buy the components and materials separate and the cost was extremely less. In fact he did not even buy the instructions. He went to Menards with his construction notebook, drew a picture of what he wanted, wrote down all the components he would need, measured everything so it would look just like the one at the store and set to work.

Our son loved the glider that you stand up on and it moves side to side. A side is a must but remember if you get a tube side they are hard to keep clean inside because bacteria gets in the cracks. When buying swings it is better to pay extra. get school yard quality swings will allow any side friend or every adults swing with your daughter compared to the plastic cheap swings.
Our swings set that my husband built has now been passed on to dear friends of ours since our baby is now 17 years old and getting ready for college. this will show you a wooden swing set is the best.

Suggestion: Either way you go, make sure to seal the wood with Thompson Water Seal to keep the wood from looking worn from the weather. My husband says not to seal the wood right away let it breath for a short while before sealing it. It will not get the worn look in the first year.

Good Luck,
S.

We have the one from Costco which we found out is a company of rainbow so it's a win-win!! It is bigger and better this year. We don't live super close to one but bought the membership just to get it as it was much more durable than Sam's however it did take a couple days to put together! Let us know which one you decide on!

They have a great one at CostCo right now - it's $1400 in the store with your membership card, so a good $600 cheaper than the cheapest Rainbow set. We've been researching this recently as well, and I think we're going with the one at CostCo. They also have $50 bucket swings for infants and toddlers that you can purchase, compared to Rainbow's $130 ones. Hope this helps!

DO NOT buy The Big Backyard wooden swing set from Toys R US. We had the swing set for about 2 years and last summer my daughter was just sitting on top of the trapeze bar and the pre-assembled metal clips connecting to wood bar broke in half. Needless to say she lacerated her liver and spent 5 days at Children's Memorial. She is doing great now, but it was something no parent should have to go through!

Hello A., We have some friends who bought one from Sam's Clubs it is very sturdy and very affordable. However it is rather hard to assemble, if you have some friends to help- it is a very nice set. Have fun.
