Hi S.! my name is Y. and I experienced terrible morning sickness which lasted all day also. it was so bad that I had to go to the ER. The doctor recommended Maalox for me. I'd lost 15 pounds and just was miserable. But, it did get better. Sometime in the second trimester it did stop. I could eat again. I could function again. So it does get better. Hang on. Eat crackers; saltine and graham whenever you can. Whenever you feel like you can eat do it.

All 3 of my pregnancies were totally different! The only thing I recommend is to be checked for anemia. I noticed that my morning sickness was the worst when my iron was low.

S.,
I experienced this with my last child (my daughter). BUT, I suffer from a P.O.T.S. http://www.potsplace.com/pots_an_overview.htm
This symptoms began after the birth of my first son in 1998. With each pregnancy they got worse. I was finally diagnosed with the syndrome in 2004. After a host of other conditions were diagnosed and non of the medications seemed to work for me. I can tell you that EACH pregnancy (whether healthy or not) is different for most woman. You learn new things each time. The morning sickness with my daughter lasted for the first 6 months! With my boys, I only had to deal with it for about 8 weeks. And it was not all the time. My daughter had me sick all day long! I spent a lot of time in the bed because it was so strong. I termed it all day long sickness, since the morning part did not seem to apply to me. Make sure you are keeping yourself as hydrated as possible! Sometimes hydration can mask itself in many of the symptoms you are experiencing. Smart water is a really good thing for you to drink after a bout of morning sickness. It has the electrolytes in it without all the sugar and food coloring many other "Sports drinks" have. Also, for me, I found relief in Organic Ginger and Organic Red Raspberry tea mixed together. Both of which are VERY good for you to consume during pregnancy. You can buy at almost any store... and if you prefer to shop online since you are not feeling well, www.drugstore.com carries a wide variety of the Organic teas. Make sure to make your doctor aware of the symptoms. Just so they can keep a closer eye on you and know of the difficulties you are experiencing. It is good that your son is 6! He can help out so much! Plus he is not too young that you are forced to push yourself and put your body understrain. Let now be a time of games in bed with mama, or let him read to you, cuddle up and watch some movies and just really explain to him that the baby is making mama sick and until the baby grows enough and gets strong enough to help mama, he needs to be a big boy. He will get it and you ARE NOT hurting him by any of it, just a part of life he needs to learn about babies and pregnancy. Is it possible to talk to your work and bring your job home? Can they offer you a leave of absence until you can get fully back on your feet?

Talk with your doctor. My sister had morning sickness so bad that she ended up in the hospital with dehydration. Maybe that's why youre so dizzy. Dont just assume it's normal. I had terrible morning sickness with both of my daughters, I was so miserable. I couldnt work or function much at all. It eventually went away. But the best thing you can do is keep in contact with your doctor if you feel so bad. Let him reassure you what your going through is normal for you.

First off,ALL pregnancies are different!
With my first son I was so sick at the very beginning I thought I was gonna DIE,but it past quickly(within 6-8 weeks),I think I may have gained 10 pounds with him and the rest of the pregnancy was uneventful. My second pregnancy was shear JOY,no probs what-so-ever.Now that being said,my third pregnancy(14 years after my second!)I was TOTALLY miserable the entire time..tired,ILL all the time(not throwing up,just SICK),achey(sp) and I too got very light headed alot!!IF this is THAT much of a concern to you,DO NOT hesitate to call your OB,THAT is their job.And yes a lot of women have the same probs you are describing, but if it is something that has you concerned or seems out of the ordinary TOO YOU,call the doc.I don't think my doctor ever slept the whole time I was preggers, and not because of me,but WHENEVER I called her with a concern, day or night(I only called once at night!),She was the one who called me back and usually within 30 mins and SHE was the one who reassured me I wasn't a prob/nutcase and that was what she was here for!!!!I couldn't Thank her enough.
Also a little hint..the younger you are,the more doctors try too "shrug" things off,no what I mean.
All-in-all I think you are fine, but at the beginning the office visits are so far apart,I think we need a little assurance-reassurance everything is going fine.Good Luck and God Bless,R.

Hey there! I understand what you are going through. I had my daughter almost 3 months ago. I didn't have morning sickness to begin with but I developed it in the last few months of my pregnancy. I found that my problem was mostly related to what foods I was eating and was able to resolve it by chewing a few Tums and drinking a cup of milk with it to help it dissolve. What ever you do don't take Peto-Bismol. My doctor warned me strongly against taking it even though it was tempting. Every pregnancy is different and every person's reaction is different. You definately need to keep yourself hydrated, keep your feet propped up. You definately should get your blood sugar checked (sugar is processed differently in every person so it could actually be a hypo or hyperglycemia issue that is making you so ill) and if you are dizzy you need to not exert yourself too much because you could be suffering from pre-eclampsia or elevated blood pressures. You should talk to you doctor or midwife. Good Luck, my thought are with you.

Hi S.,
My second pregnancy has totally been different than my first with my son. I was sick up until my 4th or 5th month and it consisted of being nauseous all day, not being able to eat or drink and barely being able to get out of bed to take care of my son. There were a couple of days that I was so sick, I couldn't stop vomiting and had to call my husband home from work to care for our son. I lost about 10-12 lbs because of being sick and the doctor said I was fine at my 16 week check-up. He said he wouldn't be concerned with my weight loss unless it continued to the next visit. I finally tapered off the nausea and now am back to as normal as I'm going to get. I still have aversions to certain foods, like chicken, which I could eat with no problem before. Just a thought, one of the mom's in my moms group is suffering from something called hypermesis (sp?) which is severe nausea and sickness during pregnancy and she's had to be hospitalized a couple of times for dehydration. Other than that, I believe that your symptoms are normal as I have gone through the same thing. Just keep in mind that some women have experienced being sick like that throughout their whole pregnancy. You're still early enough in your pregnancy that it should be subsiding by the time you hit your second trimester. Good luck and I hope you feel better!
