My daughters 5th birthday is coming up and we were thinking about getting her Wii Music. She loves to play Wii and is very good at it. I was wondering does anyone have this & would they recommend it for a 5 year old. She loves to play music.I was reading reviews & they are all mixed. I don't want to send $50 and have her not like it, seeing as it is the only toy type thing she would be getting.

What is the suggested age on the Wii? Go by that. $50 is a lot to spend when there are Playschool music books and musical toys, even musical birthday cards that she could play and dance to. If she tears that apart, she's not ready for the expensive toy.

I wouldn't get it...my father made a great observation about it. He is a musician and he saw that Wii offered this "musical game", but did you ever think about how it would effect your child if they wanted to play a real instrument later down the road? For a child I would think that it would confuse them very much. I am not against Wii at all, in fact that is the only video game my son will ever get, but he will not get Wii music. He will learn to play a musical instrument just like his Grandfather did!

My kids (ages 8 and 5) received Wii Music as a Christmas gift from friends of ours. They like playing it with other people, especially my friend's two children. We have the friends bring over their wiimotes or vice versa so we can have 4 band members (we only have 2 wiimotes).

In my opinion, a fun game for a group of kids or family play, but not much play value for a kid alone. My kids never get it out unless other kids are over.

My almost-4 year old loves this game. She plays it with her sisters, but also by herself.

Perhaps try renting it first. Blockbuster rents some Wii games.

My husband bought it for Christmas for my 6 and 5 year old, it was a hit for about a week. Since then I don't think anyone has even thought about the game. In my opinoin there are better looking games out there for the Wii.

A good thing to do is rent the game first. Blockbuster rents Wii games for 8.99 each or 2 for $15. We have rented 2 games so far that I am glad we didn't buy first. You get a 5 day rental with a 7 day grace period after that. We rent every game before we buy now if we haven't played it somewhere else.

We were geared up to buy it as well. My son is 4 and we love the Wii, his favorite game (and all the other children and adults who come to my house) is Mario Kart. I would recommend that one highly. It's gender unspecific and a ton of fun!
Now, we went to a friends house who had Wii Music and played and we were SO glad we didn't buy it. My son was bored with it and kinda frustrated too.

We too have Wii Music and my sons are 6 and 3. My 6 year old occasionally plays it, but I am sure it would be much more fun with more than one person. I think it is very cool and educational. I think he gets bored with it easy when he is playing it alone. He is much more into all the Lego Wii games instead. Girls are boys like different things so maybe she will really like it. Doesn't it stink how expensive the games are for Wii. Some of the neighbor kids who come over(some are girls) all like to play the Star Wars Lego game. I wonder if there are any lego games geared towards girls? I think they like it because they can advance levels as they play. Good Luck!!
