Wierd Hip Pain

Ok- I have this wierd pevic pain. It started on my left hip, and it would only hurt when I sat down! Now it has moved to both hips, and again usually only hurts when I sit down and it is around the bottom cusp of the pelvis, like where the leg meets the bottock. However, when I work 12 hours- constantly walking and on my feet- both hips hurt by the end of the night.
Has anyone had such a thing? Could it be related to the female area/cancer?

What can I do next?

You need to see a chiro.

I have all sorts of issues and the more I workout the more things pop up.

I NEVER knew a pelvis could lock up! It also feels like you're in LABOR. After a few minutes of adjustments I was back in business.

Chiroprators are miracle workers in my eyes and I WISHED I sought treatment earlier in my life.

Good luck.

sounds like sciatica. Where your lower back/pelvis is out of whack and is pressing on your sciatic nerve.

I'm dealing with a little bit of that right now. Luckily, I am married to a chiro, and he's been dealing with it when it acts up. :)

Physical therapy excercises could make a huge difference. I have dealt with hip, sciatica, low back pain for many years, to point of long term disability, narcotics, steroid injections, lots of doctors and surgery. Now, no meds, just controlled totally with proper nutritional supplements in perfect balance for the body. No longer disabled and as long as I consitantly take my nutritional shakes, I have very little trouble.
Sometimes I go to chiropractor for adjustments.

Favorite excercise to help hip pain. (as taught by physical therapist) ....lie on back on floor, knees bent, feet on floor, place pillow between knees, then squeeze knees together, hold tightly to count of ten and release. Do that a few times, THEN, either have someone hold your knees tightly while you try to pull your knees apart against the pressure, hold to count of ten, do that a few times.
If you don't have someone to help, wrap a belt or lift belt around your knees to hold from pulling apart.
This works wonders for hip and low back pain.
My chiro does this when I am "out of whack", gives almost instant relief.

Chiropractic! Very few doctors, in general, actually look at the public bone....if you look at the anatomy, it is one continuous bone all of the way around to the sacroiliac joint - on each side. I started having issues with it during my first pregnancy and chiropractic adjustments saved my life. I came across this, as it might help:

The rest of the webpage has tips for coping, as well as what can be done to resolve the problem (chiropractic–but not every chiropractor will have heard of this or know how to treat it, so do some research first). You don’t have to suffer. Even after reading this page, I didn’t seek chiropractic care, because I assumed it would be too expensive and I didn’t think I had enough time (I was just a couple of weeks away from my estimated due date)–I thought all chiropractic adjustments took three visits a week for a month before you got “fixed.” After giving birth, I mentioned that on that same email list, and regrettably found out that it usually clears up after one visit.

But you might not have to seek chiropractic help! From a chiropractor who is on another email list that I’m on is the following:

This is excruciating….and I’ve seen it so much in pregnant moms – usually 1 -3 adjustments clear it up completely….but here’s what she can do at home to help it….
Have mom lie on her back on the floor with her feet on the floor and her knees up. Keep the feet touching and have dad put his hands between her knees. Mom needs to pull together while dad “wishbones” her legs….GENTLY. She may get a “pop” or a crunch sound or no sound at all – all of which is perfectly normal. She may even feel it in her sacroiliac (SI) joints. This is classic for pregnant moms. He keeps doing this until they strengthen up and he can’t pull them apart. If they don’t strengthen within a few days of doing this, then, she may need to go see a chiropractor and get her SI joints checked. Often, the pubic bone won’t release unless I’ve adjusted the SI joints and vice versa….since it’s all connected.
Ligaplex I from Standard Process works well during the beginning of the pregnancy. Usually 4 each day suffice until the 36th week of pregnancy, when I have moms stop it, so the ligaments can relax….but until then, it helps hold adjustments and joints together, which makes life a LOT more comfortable.
My friend complained to me about her pelvic pain, so I sent the above to her, and she said that one time of doing this exercise helped her tremendously. Don’t suffer needlessly. There is an answer.

Sounds a lot more like either arthritis (if it's just in the joint) or sciatica (if it radiates up your back or down your leg) Time to go to the doctor....

i'm with the majority of responders: sciatic nerve. i have the same pain, even now. a pinched sciatic nerve put me on bed rest during my pregnancy. the pelvic pain is weird, because you'd think it's two different things, but being ON YOUR FEET or, even, SITTING IN THE SAME POSITION for long hours at a time will almost certainly cause your sciatic to flare.

i suggest heat (as much as you can stand), anti-inflammatories (advil, alleve is even better) and, if you can do it, yoga or stretching. just 15 mins of stretching a day is better than not stretching at all. if you have insurance and can do physical therapy, TRY IT. it made a WORLD of difference for me when i was pregnant and could barely walk.

chiro is also REALLY great!! again, when i had insurance, and wasn't pregnant, my chiropractor could make me feel better within minutes, and after several weeks of seeing him, i feel more constant relief. i suffer from sciatica as i write this, and it SUCKS but is manageable.

The only time I've had hip pain (besides when pregnant) was when I was on a statin for high cholesterol and the drug was destroying my joints (and killing my memory).
When I stopped taking the drug, hip and joint pains got better and my memory recovered.
You can try taking some glucosamine (if you think it's joint/cartilage related) and see if that helps.
I wouldn't think cancer would cause a pain like that (it's usually sneakier than that) but if you want to be sure, get yourself to your doctor and have it checked out.

Please get a diagnosis from a doctor rather than from us!

This could be any of many things. As others noted, ask about arthritis and sciatica. You are smart also to ask about whether it could be related to ob/gyn issues though it sounds more related to bones/muscles. There is also a condition, I don't know its name, but two of my friends now get cortisone shots into their hip areas for similar aches there. It seems to come with age (they are both in their mid-40s).

I hope you get a good diagnosis and find the right treatment for you!

As a 47 year old that just had a total hip replacement (due to a deformity of the femoral neck), I'd say start with a chiropractor to make sure you are in good alignment first - especially since you have such a demanding job. Good alignment - especially after kids is very important. Since you are obviously concerned, you might want to get an xray to see how your hip joints actually look. You definitely want to get some peace of mind since you are worried about the Big C. Go see your OB-Gyn for a pelvic exam as well. Address inflammation in your body too as well as making sure you are more alkaline. Here is a link to a NRF2 activator that helps with everything from oxidative stress, cellular aging, inflammation and fibrosis in the body. www.lifevantage.com/livinghealthiernow - it took away the constant bone on bone pain I was having for years in my hip. Make sure you do stretches to keep your hips flexible and loose too. Good luck. You can message me with any other questions too.
